Very very good skin.
2 questions:

1) videos/filmstrip mode, the thumbs are very lower resolution. I see it use ....jpeg images from C:\Programmi\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Thumbs\Videos\Title (low resolution) instead ..L.jpg (high resolution).
SpeenSafeRevolve for example use the ..L.jpg and the thumbs in filmstrip mode are very good.
Is possible to use ..L.jpeg or directly folder.jpg images in Xface skin??

2) the teletex is unreadable.

In the filmstrip views for Music and Videos, the animation when moving from one cover to the other isn't synced properly. the 'case' is off sync with the cover art. Spinsafe Revolve had the same problem with the Music Flimstrip view. Is it a problem because of my setup, or is it an unavoidable problem of using that effect in MP?

Yes I've got the same problem too. This keeps me from using this skin because it looks very buggy... such a shame

Great stuff Harley, the skin looks really professional. I love all the little touches of animation to add that level of polish.

A few comments:

- I don't seem to be getting reflections on my tvseries logos, is anybody else seeing that? I looked at the skin file and it should be reflecting....

- Is there any way to display the show description in the old location in the screen where you're selecting a show? Showing the banner twice seems a bit redundant to me - and the description text at the bottom is a bit small.

- I find the "highlight" indicator is a little obscure - quite often I lose what I have selected because it's not obvious which is the highlighted area. Is there a way to make it more distinct? This is a classic problem with UI haptics...

- Is it just me or are the buttons on the navigation ribbon at the top of the screen a bit redundant? Either that or can it be hidden/more transparent? I don't seem to be able to access them via the remote, so I am assuming they're only there for keyboard users. I much prefer the minimalist look where the ribbon isn't visible in the "normal home" screen.

- Ditto for the tv/camera/headphones icons down the bottom - are they functional? They certainly aren't with the remote, but I again assue they are there for keyboard users?

- The "normal home" screen is a bit slow when moving quickly. The fade in of text is nice, but not particularly functional. Ditto for the icons, they don't really clearly represent what item is next until the text fades in making navigation painful.

- On the basichome screen, is there any way of customising what plugins are listed and what isn't? Last.fm is displayed for instance, but I don't use it. Also, I logically went to "TV" to watch "TV Series" but I had to go to "Videos". I know that's the logical way the plugins are structured, but if the basic home screen is divided into a more "activity" based approach, IMO it makes sense to try and adhere to that.

- In the basichome, all the submenu items are nocaps, but in "My Plugins" the "Plugins" submenu is capitalised. Picky, but still, looking for that polish

- basichome always seems to default to "my pictures"?

That's pretty much it - please take this as constructive criticism, other than the points above this skin has a big future ahead of it.

I really like your XFace skin. This is an excellent piece of art, congratulations!

Here's some feedback to the filmstrip view. When I switch from one album to the other, it is hard to identify the name of the chosen album because the album name changes in an area where the eye does not focus on (in the white bar at the bottom). Instead, the eye focuses on the title flying in from the bottom which is the title of the album selected before the actual album.

In order to improve this, I suggest that the title of the album selected before the actual album does not fly in and that the title of the currently selected album is shown under the cover in bigger letters (cf. picture).

What do you think?




An additional question: When entering recorded tv, the tv is automatically started which takes about 15 seconds in my setup (multiseat tv engine 3). Is there a way to disable the tv start when accessing recorded shows without needing to turn off Auto turn TV on in the tv setup?

I can help you on a couple of items;

For basichome, edit the basichome.xml file and its easy to change the submenu's - scroll near the bottom and you'll see all the submenu headings for each icon in the basichome screen. Change its name, and the hyperlink #. To figure out the hyperlink value open the xml file of the intended target (eg. onlinevideos) and you should see right at the top <id>#, and use that.

For basichome always focused on Pictures, I also mentioned this, and I am sure he will get back to us.
With so many people loving this skin there are going to be lots of comments. Hopefully we can all work together and help Harley out by answering some of the questions for him.

Can someone let me know which of the "latest" svn snapshots are the most stable? I just got everything rock solid and created a drive image and dont want everything to go to crap again with the svn breaking something that is working fine now.

There is no rock solid version, this is MediaPortal. But you can always download the latest SVN version and pray (latest SVN = less bugs, so download today's version) xD. Good luck.
