I use AMC and just put in head-on shots of the DVD covers

AMC is not that great at getting correct movie covers, even if you change the dvd picture download to hi-res version.

So it can be easier to use the internal my movies database scan to download your movies, select the cover art you want running MP and select imdb, scroll through picture selection until correct.
Then in AMC select these hi-res pictures (ending in L) and save to its amc catalogue, i also save as xml with pictures.
Backup Your Mediaportal moviesdatabase file and Thumbs\movie folder, Also the AMC\catalogs folder (if that's where you have everything saved to).

Hopefully this is a one of process, because everything is backed up. :)

ps the DVD cover picture totally depends on resolution you are running tv\monitor at, if not a standard widesreen format then picture will not look right in cover.

Hello all since we are on the DVD cover topic I am having something weird happen. Lately everytime I download a new cover from imdb it looks fine when i select it in the IMDB screen. But once i am in myvideos and scrolling through it seems lowres and doesnt fit the box. (and yes I do have high res selected in the setup)

The weird part is once i select the movie and I am inside the folder. The image now looks perfect. High res and filling the dvd case. Is anyone else having this issue? Thanks in advance Kris

Yeah, that part I figured out. I ended up signing up for FreeCovers.net. They seemed to have a lot of hi-res scans of DVD covers, so I used those. Apparently I cropped those a bit too small though (about 350px wide) ... or perhaps I just have the wrong height to width ratio for the dvd boxes in this skin. Is there a way to have the skin strech and skew the images to fit properly?

I also found that aspect of the DVD covers is different for folder view and db view

    Subtitle OSD problem

Here's a screenshot of the problem with the subtitles with Xface 1.4. I can't get to the "Enabled" button with my remote. I've also attached a screenshot of Monochrome: would like to suggest perhaps making the info OSD similar to monochrome, i.e. as a horizontal bar at the bottom of the screen rather than a pop-up in the middle of the screen. Would that be possible for the next version of Xface?

    Thanks

re: info OSD being repositioned to bottom of screen - I second that!

    Newbie Alert ! - Xface Documentation ?

I've gone from having never used MediaPortal to settiing all up on my new Silverstone CW02 with Samsung 40" 1080p LCD in the space of about 8 days.

The finishing touches for me are tweaking Xface - which looks fantastic by the way !

I've noticed that there are a whole load of XML files in the xface directory which I assume allow me to customise xface - but I can't work out where to start.

I've been through the menus and I've browsed this forum - although with 99 pages I might have missed something.

Is there any documentation or a FAQ / Sticky that someone could point me to ? I've got experience with Meedio in the past so I just need to be pointed in the right direction and then I can work out the rest myself.

    Many thanks.

    Howard
