I already have an ATI Radeon HD 3870 video card with HDMI 1.3 muxed with 5.1 audio output to a 1080p HDTV. I'm considering adding a tuner card to my computer so I can do away with DVR from the cable company. I've been reading a lot on these forums (and others) but I just can't seem to find what I'm looking for. Can anyone...

Hello, I’m looking to setting up a satellite setup but I have some questions. I am living in the Netherlands, by the way. 1. What exactly do I need for a satellite setup? My list as I came up to it is like this: a dish, coax-cables, LNB’s to capture the signal, a DiSeQSC (or something) switch and a smartcard offered by Canal...

For the US you only have to worry about QAM, ATSC and NTSC. If you've got digital cable.... QAM OTA digital antennae ... ATSC OTA analog/ cable analog ... NTSC Video tape/DVD machines (analog) .... NTSC I have an HD Homerun for OTA ATSC and a WinTV PVR-150 for my VHS/DVD combo machine (and FM radio). I don't watch that much NTSC...

I think this is down to DRM, no ones producing a DVI out\DVI in solution, as this would give the ultimate in digital copying.

2 x 150 does the same as a 500, butt 2 x 150...... 1. Takes up more space in your computer, look at future expandabillity. 2. Requires 2 antenna connections 3. Consumes more power A PVR500MCE is just a cleaner way of doing it.

*sigh* energy costs must be cheap in your country... This machine would be almost overpowered for non-gaming jobs. The onboard GPU on ATI's 780G or Nvidia's 8200 boards perfectly handles 1080p. Regarding the onboard sound: if you use a digital connection you just have to make sure it is supporting 44,1 Khz output for music.

MediaPortal hasn't been designed for "media extenders". For them to work with MP, they would need to have their own little MP client written into the firmware of the device. Definitely possible, just not very likely. Thin clients aren't really suitable for front ends for MediaPortal, mainly because they offer very little in the way...
