I agree. However, there are two things that surprises me: 1. The former model was based on 690G, and was a huge success. Why did they not choose a 780G based mobo? See: Nvidia's GeForce 8300 chipset - The Tech Report - Page 13 2. When first choosing a nVidia IGP, why not 8300? (Only difference is higher corespeed I think , so does...

My media PC uses a Gigabyte GA-MA69GM-S2H m/b using the onboard video. Processor is a 5200. I just use the S-video output to 32" CRT TV. Everything works fine except during fast action. For example, at the end of Spicks & Specks, the credits go from right to left across the bottom of the screen, but you can't read it because the...

I thought others might find this interesting. I've semi successfully got Media Portal running on a VIA EPIA EX1000EG Board, I would not recommend VIA for an HTPC, they are silent and draw almost no power, but the drivers & support from via are non existent and they are frustratingly slow & quite unstable. Spec is as...

As mentioned above here, unless you're not looking to upgrade the board in your main computer, it would be wiser to buy a cheaper card like Nvidia 8500/8600GT or AMD 3450/3650 (or the upcomming equalents in the 4xxx series).

So, I love my HTPC and watch most of our video through it. Our pre-amp is an old one and doesn't have a remote so it's a pain to change between inputs for Pay TV, HTPC, Wii etc. As such, all audio and video goes into the TV and audio is outputted from TV to amplifiers. One problem.... the TV is NOISY. Noticeable annoying static...
