After upgradeing to 2.3.0 (uninstalled 2.2.0 then installed 2.3.0) some of the videos that played perfectly in the older version...
I had a similar problem with some of my seasons...
The resolution was to rename some of the episodes filenames so they were in a format the software could recognise.
ie. each episode needs to have something like 102 or S01E02 where 1 is the season and 2 is the episode.
It worked for my missing episodes anyway...

Ahh so PowerDVD and FFDshow do the same job essentially? I was under the impression that PowerDVD was used to actually playback the files and FFDshow did the codec work.

I apologise in advance if this seems too n00b, I'm about to install MP fresh tomorrow and I want to get it right :)...
The only codec that can play the h264 mp4 files of all the torrent NBA basketballgames is the ffdshow codec. Cyberlinks codec doesn't work. Unfortunately, MP slows down the playspeed to half the original speed! So everything moves twice as slow and sound is pitched twice as low and slow... Haven't got a clue how to fix this :s

Since dvr-ms files with AC3 audio are playing fine in WMP, I tried to edit them in VirtualDub using AviSynth and DirectShowSource() (downmixing is fine with me). The result was, that I only got a video stream, but no audio stream. AviSynth reported a time out on connecting the audio stream.

I sorted out the problem.
In ffdshow there is a setting which applications ffdshow should be used with.
I added mediaportal.exe and then the videos turned out the right way.

You can't accelerate mkv files, There is a bug with hardware decoding and the haali splitter. So coreavc is your best bet. The ati or nvidia cards will do the 20fps bug with any mkv file. Any other vid formats should work with hardware decoding.
