You missed the point of my post. 1080i material did not deinterlace properly with 1.0.1/2 for me but it does with 1.1.0b using the exact same hardware, same driver version, and mpeg2 codec.

Since 1.1 isn't really working for me in other area's, I'm going to try 1.0.2 with win7 and I'll report back if the deinterlacing issue is still there to rule out any os differences between xp & 7..

thing is that devs changed some things with DX and since then you need better hardware for 1080i.

that's why this is such a long post, coz there's no obviuos reason why to change it, when you can have the same thing with lower power consumption....

How about reading the whole thread? Devs (me including) have answered to that question multiple times already.

yeah, did it. I'm not attacking things I cannot change and I highly appreciate the work all devs are doing or have done to develop this wonderful piece of software. so no need to discuss this issue further anymore. :)
We'll see what the future brings. Maybe there could be a MP release with lower hardware prerequisites in future capable of deinterlacing 1080i.

Ok, now color this one weird... What screen resolution are you guys running at that are having problems? I was at 720p60 and had all sorts of deinterlacing issuesusing the PDVD9 mpeg2 decoder. The only way I could get around it was to use the dscaler mpeg2 decoder.

Well, I just got a new 1080p TV yesterday and figured I'd try the PDVD9 decoder again. It works!!! Perfect 1080i deinterlacing! WOW!

I would think that running my new tv at 1080p would usemore graphics resources thusly making it more difficult for the GPU to deinterlace properly. *shrug*

I found this thread yesterday.. can't believe I hadn't seen it before.

I've been posting in the SAF thread about an issue I was having with live TV but it does sound like this might be my issue.

Basically, on my HTPC (ATI 3200HD, AMD X2 5200+), I can watch a 1080p MKV at <3% CPU but live tv stutters like crazy if I have DXVA enabled (PDVD MPEG2). If I disable DXVA (PDVD MPEG2), no stutter, it works. However, the quality is not as good and it's using about 20% CPU. The MPC MPEG2 decoder (Gabest), is about the same as it has no DXVA. Elecard supports MPEG2 DXVA but it seems to use the same CPU and has the same quality as the PDVD codec with DXVA off so maybe it's falling back into non DXVA mode?

I apologise since I can't remember for sure, I was new to MediaPortal at the time.. but I really think MPEG2 DXVA was working when I was using 1.02 on XP. I'm now using 1.1 beta (SVN 24281) on Windows 7 and this is the only thing I can't resolve in MP.

I've read the threads about my hardware (CPU not HT3), but I really think it was working before.

Anyway, is this thread the right place for me to park for hopeful resolution or is my issue something else?

EDIT: Oh and Australian HDTV is 1080i MPEG2, our SD channels seem to work ok with the PDVD MPEG2 DXVA on.

ahh my mistake, it doesn't mention mpeg2. Maybe it does effect mpeg2 also i'm not sure, some times the descriptions on the roadmap arn't all inclusive.

No, it doesn't affect MPEG2 (SD side of TsReader hasn't changed for a long time).
