Andrew H & Owlsroost, I've also uploaded a 1 minute clip of a 1080i H.264 encoded hockey game that I recorded with my HD-PVR. Let me know what FPS you get in MediaPortal playing it. Thanks!

    I tried your clip and a few other 60Hz interlaced 1920 x 1080i files - in MP 1.0.2 with nVidia 195.62 drivers to a 1920 x 1080p display.

It's struggling to get to 50 fps, whereas 50Hz material plays smoothly at 50 fps.....(I'm in 50Hz land so mostly I play 50Hz files)

There was little difference in fps between H.264 and MPEG-2, so I think it's the de-interlacing and rendering load which is the problem, not the decoding.

Of course (as usual) the files play fine at 60 fps outside of MP e.g. in MPC-HC

I can't remember if I did similar tests before I recently switched to the 195.62 drivers (from 182.50) - maybe there's been some performance degradation ??

The GT220 is more powerful than the 9500GT (48 stream processors versus 32) so I would hope it's good enough at 60Hz to a 1920 x 1080p display.

    Tony

I've been reading this thread with interest as I've just upgraded to a full HD TV and now I'm seeing the problem too. I also have another thread about a channel which suffers horrendous dropped frames: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/.../rush-hd-problems-viewing-channel-only-75686/

So, I did some experimenting, and I recorded that channel for a minute, then tried it in VLC - it plays back perfectly. So it's something in MP that's causing my problems with that channel, and the others, I suspect - and I suspect it's the same issue as others in this thread are seeing. I really really don't want to spend money on more hardware, because I can see (using VLC) that my hardware is capable. So, how can I help with fixing this issue?

Hi kiwijunglist. But... it plays fine in VLC... And most other HD channels are OK, they have the odd dropped frame, whereas this is about 7fps! Where can I upload it to?

FWIW, I can play it on my lousy onboard ATi 1150, but only with heavy stuttering/frame-freezing. Wasn't expecting anything else though ;)

I'll test it back at home tonight on a Radeon 3200 (which is below the specs for 1080i but you never know...).

Where can I find out whether my PC is up to spec? I'm using an Asus P5E-VM HDMI motherboard with onboard Intel GMA X3500 graphics.
