Hey Guys:
So I fresh installed MP2 10th anniversary edition, and it seems like it has not solved my issue with the client getting removed from the network.
Attached are the server and client log
I will ask again, as it seems to have been overlooked, but have you guys tested this internally on a Windows 8.1 ONLY network? For both server and client?
Also, in Win 8.1, my network discovery is on for uPnP, and windows firewall is off for both PCs.

While I read you have assigned DHCP address's and have tried Static address's, what are you using for DNS?
I ask because it does not appear to be functioning properly while the systems are starting up.

From what I see in the logs.....
The server starts up real fast
    Start 12:23:46
    Fully Started 12:24:10
It as IP's but I see no name associated with the server....

    Hey @breese
If you look back a couple pages, I have tried static DNS within my Untangle Appliance (handles everything, DHCP, DNS, and web protection).
I have tried host files on both the server and client, and it would find the hostnames correctly, but this issue would still occur.

I tried a different router (removed my untangle box from the network), same issue occurred.
I am at a loss here lol

@morpheus_xx , i see for this newer edition, the single IP binding is part of it, but I could not find it anywhere.

EDIT - Just as a test, I am going to downgrade my untangle to version 9.4, as I had less issues with this one.

@jpichie I'm using IP binding, will get you a sample config tonight if nobody else has done it by then.

I believe there is an IP Binding config in this thread somewhere a few pages back.
    And I have used it.
It is just that I read the changelog for the 10th anni version, and it stated this under bugs
    • [MP2-412] - Binding to every available network can cause hang, introduce option to select network interfaces
But i suppose these are still current bugs, I will go back through this and grab the file.
no need to upload one @MrTechno

I am in the process of installing windows 7 on a box right now, and will try running the server from there to see if it helps my issue.
If not, I will downgrade my untangle as suggested above.
Regardless, I will be updating this thread sometime this week.

    Update
    @breese @MrTechno @morpheus_xx
It looks like it may be uPnP related... Again, this is on a windows 8.1 update 1 environment.
I ran the intel upnp Device Spy on a fresh reboot on both Client and Server.
Both devices appeared in both lists. Once I let the client "disconnect" from the server, I refresh the device spy, and the server PC no longers shows the client PC in it's list - and the client PC's device spy no longer sees the server PC in it's list.

    EDIT - Confirmed, uPnP issue
On a fresh reboot, both PCs show up in one another's Device Spy list. After about 15-20 minutes, they dissappear. They also get greyed out under multimedia devices in devices and printers.

EDIT2 - I tried joining the Homegroup, but this did not seem to help.
EDIT3 - I saw mention of an MP2 Device Spy, but I could not find it anywhere. Is there some tool to I could use to debug this uPnP issue?

EDIT4 - So I have my new Win7 PC setup, and it is running MP2 in server/client install mode. It is also running Device Spy (for uPnP). I did a fresh reboot on all 3 PCs, and after about 20ish minutes, my original MP2 server (Winserver) gets removed from the 2 other PCs in device spy, while the other 2 continue to show up in one anothers device spy... Any ideas on this?

    @breese @MrTechno @morpheus_xx
    Issue has been found, finally.
Looks like the cause is my Trendnet 634GRU router. I have been using this upstairs for wireless, and only the MP2 server is directly connected to it, the rest of my PCs are in the basement and do not go through this router.
This is also why when I removed my untangle box and used this router directly, that MP2 would still disconnect.

Anyone ever experience this issue with a router? blocking or removing uPnP?
    Thanks

confirmed, issue was my Trendnet router
Ordered a Belkin 750DB, put a DD-WRT firmware on it, and no more issues.
    Solved!
Thanks to everyone who had suggestions and lent a hand
