Re: AW: Re: AW: Re: aMPdroid 1.0 - Preview Release

Hello, my English is not so good and I don't know what your answer exactly means. Are you frustrated about my Bug report ? It should not make your work poorly. I would only help you, because Androiud 4.03 is now the actually Version with a lot of change and maybee you didn't have an phone with 4.0.3. I don't know for with Android version you had developt this App. So I would you only inform you about the big problems in Android 4.0.3. Sorry if you misunderstood this.
    :sorry:
Well, I meant to say that posts like that aren't very helpful: we can't fix anything if we don't know what is broken. It's a lot more useful if you tell us what is actually broken, like you did in your second post. But hey, judging from your other posts you didn't mean to be offensive and English isn't my native language either, so it's probably just a miscommunication. Sorry!

So I hope it helps you a little bit.
Not really related to your problems, but I see a few other problems in your logs. Thanks.

    hi,

i have now testet my desire hd with cm7, without sense.
    it works very well too.
i don't know what i'm doing wrong with the other devices :(
Sadly the streaming quality depends quite a bit on the device you are using. It's known that the nexus devices don't work very well, although for me it usually works after a retry. We continue improving the streaming situation but it's getting hard: in my experience most of the bugs we experience now are actually device bugs which makes it a lot harder for us to fix.

    Just my two cents:
This preview release works nearly perfect on HC 3.2.
The only crash i can see is in "All Channels Group".

may I know how to make the following work?

-Power options (reboot, sleep) with MpExtended tray app (MediaPortal doesn't have to be running)
-Start/Stop MediaPortal from within aMPdroid (needs MpExtended tray app)

does this mean the remote can still connect even if the MePo isn't running?

No, you can only connect to a running MediaPortal, however the tray app (if it's running) allows you to do these things without being connected to MediaPortal.

Yup cool! just tried it a while a ago....it really works perfectly!

    Thanks a lot sir! :D

    btw sir,

will this work on a China tablet running on ANDROID FROYO 2.2?

After some testing I have found out how to get the remote function to work properly. It would connect, but none of the buttons would work. I found the solution to my problem was in turning off the authentication in WifiRemote settings, it now works wonderfully. Hopefully this solves other peoples problems as well.

Edit: Oops, I didn't replace WifiRemote.dll with the one in the original post, my bad. :)

    Hi,

I've been playing with your service today for 2-3 hours using an HTC Desire (2.2) and a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (2.3).

First of all, congratulations for your great job! In my opinion, this plugin is as essential as Mediaportal itself. It may sound a bit exaggerated but I think that controlling a media center through a mobile and/or tablet is one of the key features where future competition will be decided upon (among others of course). So, when your work reaches some maturity (and I think that's close, especially with the new MPExtended service) it should definitely be part of the core mediaportal (for mediaportal's sake).

So, coming to my experience, after manually opening the port as suggested above, most things worked in both devices.
    Some issues I encountered:
    1) Streaming video to the device didn't work and caused a lot of crashes but I don't consider it essential.
    2) On the tablet, I could not pause a track (crash), although on the mobile that was fine. (but I was very pleased with the ability to set defaults, thanks!)
    3) The tablet app crashes in landscape when viewing TV channels (though "all channels" works fine for me). But what an excellent layout!!!
    4) TV logos are not displayed because you're looking at the Win7 directory for them but I'm running XP (noticed from logs).
    5) Sometimes, after a crash, the remote could not reconnect. An MP restart was needed.

I am attaching the log from the MPExtended service, though it doesn't seem very useful to me. I'm sorry not to include more logs but the procedure looks complicated. However, if really need them, let me know and I'll help.

Once again congratulations and many many thanks for your amazing work both in terms of functionality and design .:D:D:D

    Christos

PS: Together with another user above, I find radio control to be very important for my usage, and I'm glad to know that it will be coming....

    4) TV logos are not displayed because you're looking at the Win7 directory for them but I'm running XP (noticed from logs).

You can change that in Streaming.xml (AppData\MpExtended):

    <tvLogoDirectory>C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\thumbs\tv\logos</tvLogoDirectory>
