Re: [Android] aMPdroid 0.6 - Android Remote Control

Hello, I have try that app and must say that is amazing bearing in mind that we are talking about a beta version.
Had some problems to make it work until I open all ports in windows firewall. It works exactly same way on my new
galaxy SII and on my Dropad A8 7' Tablet.

Almost everything works OK, Video, Music, TVServer, and remote.

I write down a list of things that didn't work for me:

    - Channels part inside TV (Keeps in a never-ending charging channels loop)
    - In Videos when I put a movie for download to device, there is no way to stop the download in notification bar or from another way.
    - Time-shifting and play on device returns with a force close (that is already reported, but I can´t wait to see it working. That will be by longer the most exciting functionality of all)

Congratulations for these piece of software and keep the good work.

    Hi diebagger..

I notice serious battery drain after closing the app. It seems that aMPdroid stays active. I did some testing with current widget. Where my normal drain is 5-7 aM, I had values like the screen was turned on.
So to be clear.. after closing aMPdroid (hitting home button) and screen turned off, there was battery drain off about 150-250 mA.
When I force closed aMPdroid in settings, the drain went directly back to normal values.

Maybe others here can do some tests to confirm. Or maybe It's something in aMPdroid.

By the way, this is one of my favourite apps already. I can now control my music when I'm relaxing in the garden without having to go inside to change music.
    Thanx

Can you check if the battery usage is still higher if you disconnect before exiting aMPdroid (Menu->Disconnect)?

Any idea why aMPdroid is unable to connect after stand-by and resuming MP ?
It works everytime if I restart the PC (MP is on autostart).
Try to install the just released version 0.2 of wifiremote (has a fix for resume from standby)

It looks like the battery drain doesn't happen everytime.
I tried a few times today but I had the drain just one time.
    So I'm not sure.....
Maybe other people can do some testing as well..!!??

When I disconnected like you said I had no battery drain....

    Hi,

i cant install the GmaWebService, it doesn't create a windows service or any folders. Anyone has a suggestion?

edit: same for the 4tr core service, looks like the installers just dont work. Is there any kind fo debug option for the installers?

    cheers, prometh.

The reason for the battery drain is quite clear: As long as aMPdroid is "connected" to the wifiremote plugin there is an active tcp socket (to receive events). When your wificonnection drops the connection is automatically disconnected, in which case the battery usage will return to normal. The problem with android is that it's not trivial to see if an app is "closed", the alternative would be to open/close a connection whenever a screen changes. I'll have to look into this, thx for pointing it out.

Hello, i had the same problem ...

The reason is probably that your WindowsFirewall is disabled ...

Enabling it, resolve the pb for me

    TRANSLATIONS

I have decided to use the Simple human translation | Home | myGengo to manage translations for aMPdroid. The site offers a nice and easy to use webinterface for translators to manage their translations without any need for installed software.

    Currently I have translations for:
    • Englisch (default)
    • German
    • Spanish
    • Dutch

I would much appreciate your help with further translations, especially the "big ones" (Italian, French,...) would be nice to have. Just go to aMPdroid | String. | myGengo and "request access" to the project (post the language you would like to translate and your mp username in the comments). Also if native english speakers find anything wrong with the english original, please let me know.

    :D
