Then this is your problem. Are you sure you are on the same network (wifi) with your tablet? Does it work from another computer?
Yes I am at the same wifi (same AP - same subnet - fixed IP) - I can access my NAS admin interface for example.
But I havent entered the workgroup - I havent found where to do that and maybe it is not possible since it is not windows? Cant find anything on google when searching for galaxy tab and workgroup
Havent tried from another PC than localhost on the same pc where the server is.
This sounds very much like an issue with your firewall or antivir software... Try to disable all personal firewalls/virus scanners to see if those are blocking access. Btw, can you access other services on that pc from your tablet? (e.g. webserver, other android remote apps, ...)
Turned of Windows 7 firewall.
Put server in DMZ mode in the router
Still no go

Turned of Avira Antivir
Turned of Windows firewall
Still no go

Sorry I do not have any webserver (i think?) or similar installed on my HTPC. Its a pretty clean setup only used for movies and music.

I have a IR remote that I normally use. The server uses program iMonManager to translate the incoming IR-codes.
Could that disturb in some way?

In my windows log I have the following issues:
ADMIN EVENTS
1. error - The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: hwinterfacex64
2. many of those -> error - The hwinterfacex64 service failed to start due to the following error:
Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source.

APPLICATIONS
1, The description for Event ID 1 from source Bonjour Service cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
The following information was included with the event:
mDNSResponder started
The specified resource type cannot be found in the image file

What can i provide infowise to get further assistance?

Best regards
Boogieman :)

ok.. password should be ok, because "normal" remote functions for volume etc. working fine and connection succeeds, but if i try one of the marked buttons (http://h7.abload.de/img/screen1ausa.png) i'm getting an "wrong username/password" error message.

attached some of my gmawebservice.log

2011-09-23 12:20:46.2254 DEBUG: Reading database paths 2011-09-23 12:20:46.225 - Pastebin.com

setting are correct, i set them on my phone by using the barcode with activated auth settings.

where can i find further logs?

These are the ones that use a backend service. I'm not sure the barcode reader sets these settings automatically. Can you post the settings you've defined for GMA and TV4Home on your phone?

Yeah, the barcode can only set the setting for WifiRemote (so the remote control functions), so if you have different settings for gma/wifiremote you need to set them manually. Default username/password is admin/admin.

    aaaah ok.

GMA's settings file contained other/wrong values, cleared them, now "cannot connect" - the settings on my phone were wrong..

now everything works fine, just adding admin/admin as user/password pairs to the config :)

This looks like a nice piece of software, however I'm seeing a few glitches and I'm not sure which ones relate to which components. I have a good (2 or 3 bars out of 3) wireless connection to a Zetec ePad running Android 2.2. Mediaportal 1.2 is running on a quad-core machine with a gigabit ethernet connection.

I note that the plugin pages for the software components say it's compatible with MP 1.1.2, so it may be that my MP 1.2 install is the cause of some of what I see below :

1 - Remote control functionality (I see this on 2 different MP clients) :

a - When I first select an MP client and hit "connect", aMPDroid stays on that screen indefinitely. Once I hit a button on the "real" remote, it then comes to life. The aMPDroid buttons then intermittently stop working until I again use the real remote. Subsequently (this is the nexct day after shutting down the computer overnight) aMPDroid is unable to connect at all - from the screen where I select which MP server to connect to, it takes about 5 seconds to go through to the screen where I can select remote/streaming etc but it does so with a message saying "unable to connect", and any subsequent button pushes give me a "not connected" message. I have made no configuration changes since last night when it was (kinda) working.

b - I have MP set to go idle and turn off the screen after 5 inactive minutes. Once MP drops into this state, aMPDroid won't do anything until I use the remote control or the mouse to bring the screen back to life.

    2 - Streaming

a - I realise that the program was largely designed to run on a phone, however it would be great if it could run in landscape mode on my tablet.

b - When I connected it to my TV server yesterday to stream TV it connected ok and showed me the correct channel groups, but after half an hour of it saying "downloading channels" I gave up.

    3 - Installers

The TV4Home and GMA installers run but without any user feedback. Most installers tell you when the install is complete but these just run and terminate silently. The only way to tell they're installed is to check the running services. I think they could do with a completion message. The wifiremote installer should probably check for the presence of Bonjour and prompt for the user to install it - until you go into the configuration for wifiremote it's quite possible to miss out installing Bonjour, and that's another possible showstopper for the installation.

    4 - Firewall

Despite opening what appear to be the correct ports, things were still blocked. The only way I could get a reliable connection at all was to turn off the firewall altogether (though of course now it doesn't connect...)

Are there any logs which might show what's going wrong?

It should work with MP 1.2 too.

b - I have MP set to go idle and turn off the screen after 5 inactive minutes. Once MP drops into this state, aMPDroid won't do anything until I use the remote control or the mouse to bring the screen back to life.
Does it suspend the computer or just turn off the screen?

b - When I connected it to my TV server yesterday to stream TV it connected ok and showed me the correct channel groups, but after half an hour of it saying "downloading channels" I gave up.
Have you selected the option 'show all groups'? How many channels do you have?

The TV4Home and GMA installers run but without any user feedback. Most installers tell you when the install is complete but these just run and terminate silently. The only way to tell they're installed is to check the running services. I think they could do with a completion message.
True, added to todo-list for MPExtended.
The wifiremote installer should probably check for the presence of Bonjour and prompt for the user to install it - until you go into the configuration for wifiremote it's quite possible to miss out installing Bonjour, and that's another possible showstopper for the installation.
Fortunately it works nice without Bonjour, so it shouldn't be made required in the installer.

Despite opening what appear to be the correct ports, things were still blocked. The only way I could get a reliable connection at all was to turn off the firewall altogether (though of course now it doesn't connect...)
Which firewall are you using? Which OS?

Are there any logs which might show what's going wrong?
TV4Home and GMA both log into C:\ProgramData.

I've no clue about why it's gray, but I do know that even if it wouldn't be grey and you could tab on it it wouldn't work on the Galaxy S.

Hi Oxan. In answer to your questions :

1 - it just turns off the screen. I found too many issues when I tried using "real suspend".
2 - Yep - "show all groups" is checked. I have 5 groups and a total of around 20 channels.
3 - Running Windows XP Pro with just the built-in windows firewall
4 - There's no program data folder (being XP). I'll check "all users" appdata folder and see if it's there.

    Thanks
