The other thing is when stopping playback and returning to MePo, I think I have it configured correctly to work be active in MePo menus, but after playback stop there are always a few LED's on blue. 2/3 or 4 on each strip (but sometimes only one strip) usually around the middle of each that remain on?

The config looks about right, if its random leds it's most likely an issue on the Hyperion end.
If you disable the leds via the AtmoLight context menu while a video is playing do you get the same result?

Finding sometimes they go off completely, other times a few remain on. I mapped the remote buttons to try this, and it's the same thing. Sometimes all go out, other times some remain on. When it happens the ones stuck on are always blue (but they wasn't necessarily before they were turned off)? Attached a couple of pictures (one from each vertical side of the TV) so you can see the effect. LED2.jpg starts 1.2 metres along the strip, LED1.jpg stars 3.1 metres along the strip.

Also my data line is quite short I attached an image of my setup. The arduino is the black box. Green wire is the data line.

    Thanks!

Have seen this happen before with the WS2801 leds but that was an power issue as it would spike and turn random leds blue, could you post your Hyperion config and arduino sketch?
Just in case there's some config error there but doubt it, is there an resistor connected to the data line?

Also make sure none of the exposed wires are too close to each other as that could result in interference and that your ground wires are connected properly, best to post in the Hyperion topic btw so we can keep it in one place :)

Also as another test you could try with the Hyperion android app is to go from full white to off (brightness slider) and see if it happens with that as well.

Can i have a glimps at your AtmoWin and AtmoLight settings?

    atmowin-config-png.133263

The thing is i am able to get perfect sync over AtmoLight delay option, but i also want smooth transitions so i enable the "Combined" filter over AtmoWin and as u can guess it destroys my perfect sync cause it adds the filter delay.
P.S. My Atmolight delay is 90ms and that has a perfect sync BUT with AtmoWin filter completelly turned OFF.
So my idea was to reduce slightly the delay in AtmoLight and compensate this way for the delay that AtmoWin is adding with its filter.
In any way its a time taking process and i would like to know what you guys are using.

I dont have delay enabled in my setup, with the filter delay of AtmoWin i get a nice inbetween. Rarely the leds are just a tad faster than the screen, and mostly its pretty good in sync. My AtmoWin filter settings are tweaked to be very smooth though, most people tend to like a bit more responsive leds than i do.
This is an old screenshot, and i think im actually using 90% threshold now. But its the same ballpark.

@TheBatfink try twisting the cables going to your leds to avoid interference.

    Thanx for the reply.
I notice that the AtmoWin version you are using is a modded one (128 × 64). Whats the difference with the 64×64 version?

Im using that version only because i never updated AtmoWin on my HTPC since i got everything working perfectly. Lot of changes regarding settings and so on have been made since then and i never wanted to fidle around with that all again, so i stayed with that version.

AtmoWin resizes every frame it captures (or expects resized frames from external software, e.g. AtmoLight) and then analyses it. Standard AtmoWin you get from the MPE uses a 64x64 pixel picture. The version im using uses 128x64 pixel. I get a bit of a better resolution on the horizontal leds because of that, but it also adds more strain on my cpu. With only 16 leds horizontaly it actually doesnt matter in my setup if i use 64x64 or 128x64.

Since the last update I have a Little Problem with AtmoLight and the Live Mode at the GUI.

While movie playback AtmoLight works fine, but when I am browsing at the GUI it seems like the live mode just detects my Desktop Wallpaper and not the GUI.
That means that there is no reaction to the GUI and the AtmoLight effect is the same like the live mode at Windows Desktop.

Any hint what I can do to solve that problem?

    Here it Comes.

    What I've do:
Start MePo (AtmoLight satrts with it) -> The LEDs Switch on but they're just match to my desktop wallpaper
Start a movie -> LEDs work fine
Stop movie (back to GUI) -> again the LEDs just match to my Windows desktop.

Have you patched your MediaPortal.exe (and Core.dll)?

    https://github.com/ambilight-4-mediaportal/AtmoLight/wiki/Frequently-Asked-Questions
Question: I choose "MediaPortal Liveview Mode" for Music, Radio or GUI/Menu, but its not working. Why?
Answer: To use the MediaPortal Liveview Mode outside of video playback you will need a patched MediaPortal.exe. You can find the exe here: https://ambilight-4-mediaportal.googlecode.com/git/MediaPortal/MediaPortal.exe/ If you use a version that has no patch yet, please let me know and i will generate one for you.
