Hi anvandarnamn,

Now that you have everything working well, could you confirm which codec you are using for x264, and which one you are using for XVID.

I would be interested to know if you are using MPC-HC for hi def stuff.

Thank you.

Hi!

Im using ffdshow for everything videorelated
AC3filter for spdif formats (DTS, AC3) and madFLAC for FLAC.

I can test MPC-HC to see if it works, but im sure it will

@ anvandarnamn. Your experiences with Windows 7 sound great. I think I will try to make a back-up image of my HTPC using Vista and then try to install Windows 7 with Mediaportal. I will try to see if the problem also disappears with my set-up.

For your information,

Vista 32 ultimate.

I test many many codecs (free or not). I always have sync problems exept with the power DVD codecs 8 & 9.

I use now : Power DVD 9 for SD, Power DVD 8 for HD (sometime with the PDVD 9 HD codec the video is black, I have only sound), AC3filter and the default directx sound device (HDMI for me, I desactivate the SPDIF device).

When I go ahead or back in a video the PDVD codec auto make a sync. (you can see in on the video, there is some small jumps, smallers, smallers and the video is quickly stable)

The problem is that if I insert any filter, the autosync don't work. Impossible to use ffdshow to make a upscale, impossible to use directvosub...

I think that there is a problem somewhere.

In the same time we can chose codec for mpec/H264 but I don't understand how medialportal chose the AVI codec for example. I changed codecs merits but MP don't chose the codec I want. It's a mistery for me.

Technick

Did you try vmr9? Works for me.

VMR9 does get rid of the problem for me, but I can't use DXVA for deccoding of hidef which performs so much better on my system than relying on software decoding under VMR9.

Hi guys,

I Installed Windows 7 (RTM) + Media Portal Alpha 1.1 + 190.38 + 24hz + CoreAVC

I now have no Audio Sync problems @ 24hz, where as Windows XP with the same setup, except for Media Portal (which was version 1.0.2) gave me audio sync problems.

I did have to set refreshrate to 23.976 (to get rid of panning hickup every 20 or so seconds), however 24hz worked as well.

I'm not sure if it's Alpha 1.1 or Windows 7 that's making a difference here.

Cheers

Matt.

Hi guys!!

I just wanted to add something about this topic that i discovered in my case , and in my case this is the problem. I used every possible combination of codecs and operating systems , and i tried almost every trick that is reported through out internet i order to fix the audio out of sync problem.

So i concluded that the problem is not the pc , the codecs or the drivers. The problem relies in my T.V. itself. I am using a 42'' philips LCD which has the 100 hz option with philips natural motion. When i turn this option on , which for me was one of the main reasons buying this T.V. , LAG is introduced.

Initially i thought that this was causing problems only in games ( delay in the commands given by keyboard or mouse) , but after all i discovered that this was the issue in my movies as well. So what i say is that if someone set his T.V. to process the image too much , with all these new characteristics like natural motion , then lag is introduced and while the sound arrives sooner at the receiver , the image stays back and the sync problem comes .

Of course the problem is not appearing to all users , just because some T.V.s don't have such big lag as philips or let's say an other brand. I have seen that Sony for example doesn't have big lag , even with 100 hz processing on. That's why when i used hdmi from my graphic card for sound and image together i didn't have delay issues. My T.V. is designed to take both picture and audio and to sync the output result. But when i sent my sound to an external receiver the problem was introduced because the T.V. had nothing to do with the audio.

So what i did, was to set audio delay in AC3filter , somewhere near 350 ms. Problem was gone. I am going to stick with it , until i change my T.V. , and next time i am going to buy a T.V. i will be very careful about lag times. I hope all these help.

I would also like to add that the audio out of sync problem is not related to only one thing. It depends from other things too , but the main reason is the T.V. and lag. The problem also occurs in 60 hz but it is a lot smaller just because the the T.V. process the image heavier in 24 hz , so lag rises even more. And the problem does not occur so badly when i watch sd stuff , just because the T.V. also process hd stuff heavier. So don't think one way .The source of the problem is one , but it depends from other factors too.

Good to hear you got your setup working.

Can you please tell us which FFDShow and AC3 Filter versions you are using?

I am experiencing some problems myself and i would like to test some codecs first before changing to Win7.

Ok i have managed to make my setup work and i now have no problems with audio sync and Dynamic refresh rate is working perfectly.

- I updated my Nvidia Geforce 8 Series drivers to the latest version (I had a very old version)
- I installed FFDShow Tryouts ffdshow tryouts project: Discussion & Development - Doom9's Forum
- I used FFDShow codec for H.264 decoding
- I used FFDShow audio codec for Audio Decoding
- I am using WinXP with VMR9

I believe the use of the FFDShow for both my video and audio decoding was the source of my resolution.

Thank you all.
