Sounds good big_kev. Does this work with the tvserver? Or only TV2?
Does the TV server have a sub directory called "database" containing a file called "TVdatabaseV21.db3"?

No it doesn't - the tvserver uses a full-blown db (MSSQL or MySQL) to store its EPG data. It doesn't use SQlite.

I currently use GrabEPG with JRobbo's oztivo guides and is working quite nicely for me, however your GUI setup sounds like a nice step forward in easing the EPG headaches for new users.

It took me months to get the EPG working correctly and consistently. I refuse to pay for ICETV.

Kudos for the work you're doing so far.

Thanks for the feedback.

Answers:
1. Program uses direct access to the MP database and clears the data before loading new data.

2. You only need to re-set the grid if your data source changes. Usually, just click on the download button.

3. There is not a lot of difference between ozTiVo and jRobbos data for free to air TV. Both have variable availability of between 4 and seven days of programs for different channels. The data from ICETV is more complete for Free to Air... but you have to subscribe.

The jRobbo data and ozTiVo data both are not straight XML and need some special processing. jRobbo is zipped, and must be unzipped afterdownloading (my program does this for you), and the ozTiVo data does not contain any "channel" tags, only "programme" tags. Hence the specific setup for these.

Not sure about your last query... I have only recorded from EPG or just by pressing "Record" on the remote. Maybe someone else will know.

Regards
Kev

Thanks heaps for answering my queries Kev! :D
Definitely makes things clearer for me. Great app that definitely makes things easier for people just branching out into the world of TV cards to get program info!!

Can anyone confirm if this works with 0.2.3_RC1, i've setup it up and it appears to import successfully (data and image files) but there is no data displayed in the tv guide  I have tried several times with no luck.

I am downloading it now.... I will keep you posted

.. OK I have downloaded and installed 0.2.3_RC1 and it worked for me.

Have a look in C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\XMLTV directory and make sure there is not a copy of tvguide.xml in this folder. If it is there it could be causing the problem. Otherwise, check that all EPG grabbers are switched off in the MediaPortal setup, as outlined in my setup document.

Check the time and date of the last downloaded file - at the bottom of the screen - just above the "Download New Data Now button", it should show the date and time of the last successful download. If that is not the same as your last download attempt, or it says "N/A" then there could be an internet connection problem. Do you use a proxy server?

ok I have reverted back to 0.2.2 hoping that some SVN update had effected the MP TV guide section. As mentioned I have followed the guide and setup all the nessary steps. I run graber and it says that the download was successfull but going back to MP TV guide it just shows no data! The funny thing is that the logo's all import great and i get no errors throughout the process so it's got me stumped.

Is there some file I can check to see whats happening?

Some more info.

I have looked at the TVDatabaseV21.db3 file, and it looks like it's being updated as the file size changes when i update and then shrinks if I delete the database in EPG options in MP. Still no data being displayed, my luck I guess.

I have added support for Multi Source downloads - so if you receive TV from 2 different regions, you can download EPG for both. And if you want to, you can throw in Pay TV as well.

Download at

http://home.people.net.au/~threebrid...v/AdvancedEPG/ directory. File is OzTvServiceSetup.exe.

The Advanced EPG is a little more complicated to setup, but if you have already set up this software before, it should not be too difficult.

Be careful NOT to overwrite your configuration file from your previous setup during the installation.

Guide empty

Having similar experience as CreackerJacks.

Guide is empty yet data is listed in search although when clicked dosn't show times.

Seems to populate the table (based on file size and date stamp) but maybe indexes are screwy or relationships to child tables or something?

Even tried a new install?

Any ideas anyone

Thanks

David

I would suggest using the webepgconfig.exe in the Media Portal Program folder and setup the guide from there, confirm that you can see data, then switch to OzTvService. Worth a try.

Anyone know if something has changed with the Jrobbo guide?
Was working perfectly until this weekend.
Used OzTVGuide downloader Saturday to get info from Jrobbo and when went into Mediaportal, there was no info displayed in the guide.
Oztivo worked fine and when I went back to Jrobbo (did the recofig as well), still nothing.

I'll try again today though as I had also done a little bit of playing around and so something may have changed from my end.
