Fixed auto download displaying message and not closing properly. Download version 0.1.1.7 for this fix.
Added support for delay start on download in auto mode. Add flag -delay:ss where ss is the number of seconds to delay.
Parameters would be -auto -delay:20 for a 20 second delay before downloading.
I have an external USB wireless card, and it does not start for about 30 seconds after startup of the PC. This is a problem as my auto download is on login (which is automatic). Hence the delay feature.
I have been using Vista Media Center for a while and I am looking for an alternative. How does Media Portal compare and how difficult is it to setup with DVB-T and DVB-S.
Your advice will be greatly appreciated and if I decide to try Media Portal, I would be more than happy to test any EPG's or addons. I am really over Microsoft Products!!
I have not had any major problems setting up MediaPortal for DBV-T. Just a few little things to get used to and to track down in the configutation program - BUT there is a lot of help available, particularly on this forum.
I originally changed to MediaPortal as MCE did not work with my video card or my remote, and I have not looked back. I have an older Compro TV card and I now use HIP interface software with the Compro2HIP addon. As you have full access to all of the keyboard shortcuts in the configuration program, it is possible to set up MediaPortal to work with just about any remote.
There is a lot of documentation available for setting up MP to work with your MCE remote.
It is a very good, very actively developing application - and it is great value for money!!! You should give it a try. If you use the standard version of MP without the TV Engine, it is a very simple installation (with TV engine, you need to install either MySQL or MSSQL Express as well - though the documentation is very good for this).
I know people have problems getting MP to work, but if you follow the instructions and bother to learn how the systems work it is a dream.I have been using MP for about 3 years now and love it. I have my EPG working perfectly, f*xtel connected and ir blasting. If you have any probs with EPG let me know and I will zip my WEBEPG config and send it to you.
Biggest tip to installing MP - start with a fresh install of XP, install all sound card, TV card and video card drivers, install .net framework, install MP (I don't use TV Engine, but will soon). I use the PC as a dedicated HTPC, don't trying installing and uninstalling heaps of stuff on the HTPC, this makes windows/MP unstable eventually (I start from scratch then).
I will use the TV engine as soon as the impending XBMC integration is there as I have XBMC boxes throughout the house (dying for this feature).
Give me a yell if you need a hand with anything, the more happy users the better.
Thanks. I will be installing hopefully next week. How did you get f*xtel onto a HTPC - I didn't think it was possible. What equipment are you using - DVB-S Card ??? IF so, which card, CAM etc are you using? Your assistance on this will be greatly appreciated as I am looking into subscribing to either f*xtel (Sat) or SelecTV but really want something that integrates into HTPC.
Hi There,
I have not got it in a DVB-S card yet, I am using an analog card with video in and the microsoft MCE remote with blaster to change channels on the fox box. Works perfectly, the fox box is in a cupboard out of the way and I only need the MS remote to drive the whole thing.
Cheers
Hi
I would be interested to know if all the MCE remote's that you buy these days (in Australia at least) come with the IR blasters. (Also can you recommend somewhere in NSW to buy MCE remotes?). Second question is how to setup the f*xtel (why do people do that by the way?) could you post your EPG settings or talk us through it.
Cheers and great to hear someone else in Australia sticking it to the MS meanies.
