Hi Mascot,
I am unable to understand what could be bothering your setup to behave like this. Are you sure you stick with one resolution during the refreshrate changing? Because MP is good, but changing resolution while its running it has difficulty with (or the skin). Just want to make sure you dont want to start MediaPortal in a 720p resolution and with video playback to a 1080p resolution.

I have it working here and I can change mediafiles for 10-20 times. (havent tested more) No problems during that.
You can look in my system specs (<<<<<<) to see what I am running. It is pretty much up to date but to be sure:
Im using
XP Pro + SP3
ATI CCC 9.11
SAF 4beta2. (video:MPCHC / dvd:ffdshow / TV:pdvd)
Latest SVN (30-11-2009)

- To be 100% sure there is no mistake in the setup, can you make a screen dump of your Refreshrate setup screen?
- What skin do you use?

Good luck again. Hope you get this sorted out.

FYI: I only have one issue with moving pictures, but this is due to the combination movingpictures/VirtualCloneDrive. It has to do with iso's not mounting correctly. Sometimes when I press play, I see a second of the movie and Im back in MP again. Sometimes a black screen or sometimes it just hangs. This has been fixed in movingpictures 1.0beta though.

XP Home (x32) + SP3
ATI CCC 9.11
SAF 4beta2 (setup as recommended by Hoborg first page of his thread)
Latest SVN (30-11-2009)

PureVisionHD blue 3.1.1 skin
Movingpictures 1.0 beta

I only use one resolution 1920x1080. 24hz for 23976 fps .mkv's and blurays, then I've tried 25, 75 and 100 hz for PAL .iso, xvid etc, and then I've tried both 30 and 60hz for NTSC dvd .iso and 30 fps material.

I got it working a little bit with an older SVN but I don't remember wich one. I used to run Catalyst 9.5 but after positives with 9.11 (DXVA working with SAF) I switched to 9.11.

At the moment I get 24hz whatever I play. I've tried unchecking force refreshrate back and forth aswell as device reset...

For me it is working most of the times. All the times if .mkv is created by myself.
see my system spects on the left.

I had problems with CCC and the default overscan. So I am using the CCC-profiles.

In MP I have the default to 50 Hz so that it always switches back to 50 Hz when stopping movie.
for NTSC I am using 30 Hz (60 Hz looks not so good).
My TVset supports 24p.

Hi Mascot,
I created profiles in CCC and selected "Create shortcut on desktop" selecting 24Hz for Cinema, 30 Hz for NTSC and 50 Hz for normal TV and PAL.
From the shortcut created on the desktop you can copy the command and create a .bat file. this .bat file you need to type in (including path) in MP Config. - Dyn. refresh rate changer totally to the right in the field action.
I also selected the checkbox to be informed when rate has been changed.
Then I typed in "50" in the last field for the default refresh rate.

by the way, I am using SAF 4.00 beta 8 and CCC 9.5 as with this combination most of the file types/containers work well (VCD, avi, mkv, mov, HD content, ...). Updating to CCC 9.10 I had problems as well as with SAF 4.00 beta19 as afterwards some types didn't work anymore. Furthermore, until I don't see improvements for my system I will stay with this.

What do the .bat files look like abnd what command have u entered in the ACTION field in mediaportal refreshrate setup? Are u using device reset? Forced refreshrate change?

Now I get it all messed up. I turned off refreshrate changer (unchecked in mp config) and it starts to change anyway... ?!??!

Refreshrate changes are correctly made by doublecliking the .bat files outside mediaportal. Doubleclicking 24hz .bat for the 24hz profile changes to 24hz erfectly.

Within mediaportal with 25 hz DEFAULT = changes -> 25 hz ie. 25fps media works
When running 24fps media the refreshrate popup says 24hz but it changes to 25hz.

Tried with/without refreshrate popup, with without force refreshrate and with/without use of device reset.

Mediaportal 1.1 beta latest build
SAF 4.00 beta 21 (going to try SAF 4.00 beta 8 aswell since u recommend it)
Catalyst 9.5

Tried both mymovies and with moving pictures plugin.

I don't understand this really. The .bat files changes refreshrate correctly outside mediaportal.

It gotto be the "sensor" that checks what framerate a certain media has that is not working. I can't see it any other way.

/edit I notice your using MP 1.0.2 (I'm using 1.1 beta) could this have something to do with it?

I FOUND THE PROBLEM!! :):)O

3D refreshrate override in CCCmust be set to disabled it was set to desktop. Ofcourse! THANX EVERYONE

I love this...

@ mascot,
Well, I am using .mkv's with 24p and NTSC from DVD and it works fine.
Only sometimes when stopping one 24p movie and starting another right away it does not change. However, then when stopping and restarting the movie it works fine.

I assume it has something to do with MP 1.1. I already tried MP 1.1 and had several issues that made change back to MP 1.0.2. As I have no problem with stability and recording, dynamic refresh rate change etc. work fine I don't see an advantage (for me) to use MP 1.1 until a final release is out.

sometimes also the movie files are encoded in a weird way, so don't expect that it will work for all types. (well, for those I have it does at least).

Maybe a last statement: If it really bothers you a lot that refresh rate changer does not work - change to MP 1.0.2 if this is an option.
