MediaPortal 2 provides this (and much more) out of the box.

It can already be used in a production system? And then I put it on his test. He had is of little use for everyday use.

I do it since 1.5 years, so for me the answer is clearly "yes!". But other users have other needs, so best would be to try

Plug-ins work? interested in: My TV-Series, RadioTime, Trakt, FanartHandler, MusicInfoHandler, OnlineVideo, mvCentral? Or they're not needed?

TV-Series: there is inbuilt series support
Movies: there is inbuilt movies support
RadioTime: there is a "WebRadio" plugin
Trakt: there is a basic Trakt plugin that allows scrobbling.
MusicInfoHandler: no idea what it does in MP1. MP2 shows contained audio metadata and covers, online sources are not yet read
OnlineVideos: exists for MP2 as well
mvCentral: no idea what it does in MP1

This is a plugin to display another type of video = Music Videoclips, Will need an extra MDE but no extra plugin in MP2. The MP1 plugin looks a lot like MovingPictures but uses LastFM or MusicBrainz (don't remember long ago since I've used it) as online data source.

I think threads like this are really needed, lots of people don’t know what features are out-of-the-box already in MP2 included! Probably most people think, “There are no plugins (or at least very few), so the system is not for me” But the most important things can MP2 already, included TV (very important)!

Sadly there is one (at least for me) missing feature, what is stopping me from the final switch to MP2 – external subtitles, but I already wrote this in the other thread

It is released already since a long time. Last "full" version can be downloaded here:

There are automatic (2-) weekly builds available too:

MP2 is under heavy development, so there will be new features and fixes nearly every day... That's why it's best to use the weekly builds also they are not fully tested...

Could we do this with a sticky thread in the forum, or a wiki page with MP1 plugin -vs- MP2 equivalent (part of the core functionality, available as a plugin)?
