    Hi,

It seems that when I watch a 21:10 movie the black bars arn't black but dark grey. Is this a player issue or is this cause the movies are files and not directly from disk?

For those with Nvidia you can try this:-
    http://danbeahm.blogspot.com.au/2011/01/fix-windows-media-center-andor-vlc.html
But I note you are using a Radeon - is there a similar setting for Radeon?

Otherwise there is a reg hack that you can change the settings but I cannot find it just at the moment.

Edit - I found the reg hack about which I wrote - perhaps it does not apply to MP and win 10 - I was using it on Win 7 MC.

Its a player issue OR a renderer issue OR a GPU Setup issue OR a tv issue. I can't be more specific than that based on the information you've provided.

I'd suggest following my setup guide, turn all of those enhancements off incl dynamic range

Well - it was set over the lav settings as I have used your guide for some time now (0-255) and turned of all teh features from AMD - but it seesm as with OLED it does not work like with LCD - no idea why. But I guess it's as with everyting a personal experiance. Using the AMD settings now for me it seems to be much better.

What is also not clear to me - with teh whole Contrast and light setup - if it is suggested to turn it down so you see the flicker starting with 17 - doesn't this mean that in return using 0-255 is working against it (if the movie was encoed OK and there should be nothing below 17 ...)

There are lots of different ways to set up your desktop colour and movie colour, and the individual settings you use are impacted on how your tv handles colour as well.

The most import thing is that you play the clipping test video in what ever player you are using to watch movies eg. Mediaportal and then adjust brightness so you can see 17-18 flashing , but anything below 16 you can't see flashing.

If you can see below 16 flashing then your movie black will look slightly grey.
If you can't see 17/18 flashing then you will loose a small amount of details in very very dark scenes.

Get brightness as low as possible while still being able to see 17 and or 18 flashing

You might want to adjust your "black level" on your tv. It has a low and normal setting, the setting you use depends on your desktop levels and whether your renderer expands movie levels. I can't remember if MePo expands and clips or not because I use MPC-HC with MadVR as an external player.

Well, the log doesn't show any problems. I can see correctly tuned channels in the log. It seems to me that the tuner works fine. Can you copy the created ts file(located in your timeshift folder) somewhere else while in channel preview and try to play it in VLC or MPC-HC? PS: You can also try to make short record

I don't think so, because MP has no way of knowing at which timestamp the external player stopped playback. Best way to achieve this would be to use an auto-resume feature in your external player itself. (MPC-HC can do that, I don't know about VLC)
