I have the same issue with some of my xvids. Not all but some. The symptom came when I installed CCCP but it's only in MP I have problems. I think it's unfair to blame the CCCP for this issue, it's an MP problem that should be taken care of.

Am I suppose to log an error or so about this?

Just adding another vote for the screen calibration method. Adjusted top left and bottom right to be (2,2) and normal mode is working again.

I think at (0,0) they were slightly off screen probablly due to my dodgy old plasma screen.

I recalibrated my screen with the built in adjustment tool (under settings in MP itself). And now it seems to work as it should.

Perhaps this approach does help someone else.

Thanks this helped me. Setting up MP for first time (tvservice, latest daily svn snapshots) and changed default font size to large and started to get blank screen problem. Ran through the calibration screen (pressed enter to cycle through process) appears to have fixed the blank screen problem.

Suggestion for built in adjustment tool: For better GUI the On-screen instructions in calibration screen should list what key needs to be pressed: There is nothing on-screen indicating that you have to press enter (or escape.. or perhaps there are other key commands in the calibration screen)

P.S. This blank screen also affects TV for me when not in "original" aspect ratio. The blank screen seems to keep coming back after a reboot, forcing me to run the manual calibration every time I want to use MP for video/TV in anything other than the original aspect ratio ("Normal" for example). Searching around the forums it seems to be a long outstanding problem. Not sure what the calibration tool is doing to temporarily remove the bug...

Hi,
Does anyone know of a way to automatically run screen calibration each time MP starts, as a work around this bug? At the moment I have to re-run the calibration every time MP restarts (without actually making any changes - I just select calibration from the settings, press enter enter enter then press escape and suddenly I can see my TV/Video at the "normal" aspect ratio). Since this bug appears to be so long outstanding, and the developers appear to have commented that its directX's problem and not MP's, then a permanent work around like auto running MP's screen calibration looks like the best bet, no?

Any suggestions appreciated, thanks.

Problem solved

I had similar problem: Originally I was using on my TFT screen a 1280x768 pixels resolution. All was fine. Then I changed resolution to 1360x768, and then I was not able to see any videos or TV channels except in "original" zoom mode.

Last days I read about this problem in forums and try to "cabibrate" MP. Result is that now I can see my videos and TV channels at any zoom mode.

I'm happy now!!! :D

The work around has to be repeated over and over - after each restart of MP (at least for me and another poster in this thread). Also calibrating needs to be run once for video and then again to watch TV.

Unfortunately it is a show stopper bug for making MP the family media portal here :(

I am having this problem now on two of my xvid-files too.
Since I am having hundreds of other xvid's without that problem it must be somehow related to file's. But I didnt see any difference between working and not working xvids.
So to get a dev to look after that issue it would be great if you guys experiencing that problem could somehow supply your files, where this error happens. Maybe you cut it to say 5-10 MB pieces (VirtualDub should be great with Direct Steam Copy; please test after cutting if it still not works) and upload somehow. If we get some files together, I'll mantis this issue.

    Regards
