Ian, sorry to just get back with ya, you only need to add the HD Starter.dll and HD_Starter.exe in the MediaPortal plugins\Windows directory and also the ddlfix file, then execute the dllfix file, the .ahk is just a source file and actual might cause problem if it is in the plugins folders, so remove that file. Make sure that you are substituting the file that I provided for the one in the original post. After this is done I don't see you should have a problem continue with the remaining steps from in the original post. If you still are having trouble you may message the author of this plugin as well, but i don't think you should have any problems as it worked perfect for me, just needed to recompile the file with the correct path, also I have used this with PDVD8 and 9, both worked great. Currently still using with 9.

On a side note If you have "User Account Control" turned on in Vista, you might consider disabling it, if not permanently at least when you install programs and run various files. This can be done from within the User Accounts area of the control panel under your user account, then you could disable the alert from withing security center if it was to be permanent. If you are using your computer as a daily desktop and frequent web browsing you may leave it enabled for the added security.

no problem, free support doesn't need to be instant :D. I missed the HD starter dll..doh!

I found one piece of missing in the explanation at the first page - the plugin config has to have the complete full path to hd starter.exe, not just "windows\hd starter.exe" as per the screenshot. without that I had the exact same situation that the last poster had. With the complete full path, it all works. :D But like you say, UAC needs to be off, otherwise it asks each time about the permissions to run hd starter.exe.

I have however found that media portal powerscheduler isn't behaving as nicely since I installed this plugin. failures to go into standby. anyone else seen that?

I was having a lot of trouble with it, but mine all started after the install of the Powerhandler Plugin, removed that and then took me a week or to to get it fixed, now the newest svn seems be doing ok with standby for me, I do not use the TV Server as of yet, so we have it set to suspend at 10 minutes and MP set to hibernate at 10 minutes.

Seems be working OK, not 100% but yet 100% better than before if you know what i mean.

I'm Using XP (MCE) and Power DVD 8

Thanks

can you run the hd_starter.exe file from your mediaportal plugins directory (from within windows)? If that works, but it doesn't launch from mediaportal, then you may have made the same mistake I did (I saw the same error as you). The configuration of the hd-starter plugin (from within mediaportal plugin config) needs the full path to hd_starter.exe, not just "windows\hd_starter.exe" as per the screenshot.

Exit issues

Thanks for the great plugin! I have tried a few versions from this thread but still seem to be getting erratic behavior. The plugin launches from MP without any issues when I select my HD menu item. PowerDVD launches overtop of mediaportal. The problems then start:

1) PowerDVD will not start in full screen mode. When I press play, the program maximizes but no matter what I try (PowerDVD settings etc.) the program does not go full screen before play is pressed).
2) Is there a way to make the plugin automatically press play after powerDVD is launched?
3) I cannot get HD starter to exit PowerDVD and go back to MP on a reliable basis. I have tried versions with both the escape key mapped as well as backspace. The escape key worked occasionally but not on a consistant basis. Can anyone helo me with this? I would ideally like to back out using a mapped button on a windows MCE remote (actually a logitech harmony mapped as an MCE remote).

Lastly, I read that MP 1.0.1 has an autoplay feature for HD/Bluray discs. How do I set this up to work with HD starter.

Sorry for the long post but thanks in advance for the help.

hopefully someone can clear this up for... does this plugin automatically play the blu ray when its inserted as I am using blue3wide so I dont know how to get the menu item to appear in this skin... also i found this in another thread which is kinda confusin me
Currently MediaPortal doesn't provide a way for plugins to be able to detect if HD DVD or Blu-Ray disk was inserted.

AutoPlay.cs should send a global message that tells when Blu-ray / HD DVD disk is inserted. Then its possible to write 3rd party plugins that can react to the disk insertion.

+ GUI_MSG_BLURAY_DISK_INSERTED
+ GUI_MSG_HDDVD_DISK_INSERTED
