**** CONVERTING RECORDED TV ****


Hmmmmmmmm does anyone convert recorded dvb-t to dvd (or anything really)?

I am having issues trying to convert the .ts stream to anything.

Any pointers?

Use handbrake to convert it to an mp4/similar.
On the left select 'constant quality rate'On the main screen, Tick decomb (not deinterlace). Set anamorphic to none and leave width/height blank. In the video tab don't touch anything. In the sound tab set audio to AC3 for TV3 and a high bitrate AAC for other channels.
This will result in an equally large file to what you recorded, however the intention of the above settings is to maintain full quality. It will take a while to encode, but when done you'll have a file which you can burn to a DVD with DVDFlick/Similar.

If you want to archive them as files and not burn to dvd, simply dont use constant quality rate, set a bitrate (with 2 pass encoding), use AAC audio and play with settings till you get what works. You can even drop the resolution if you want.

If I install a dual tuner card then I can record TV1/2 and TV3 (MediaWorks) channels at the same time?

Yep. Either dual tuner or just add another single tuner

Hmmmmmmm burnt to dvd and the lip sync is miles out !! The converted file using Handbrake is fine, but when its converted with FlickDVD its bum


also, does this look normal? I see the word "error" a lot and it gets me worried

HVR-2200 / SkyStar 2 / Techotrend S1500+CI / PVR-150

You have 4 cards running?

SkyStar 2 is one FTA satellite feed
TechnoTrend S1500 - second FTA satellite feed?
HVR 2200 ?
PVR-150 - for recording from SkySTB?

Haha Yeah, I started out with the PVR-150, then added the SS2 for Freeview (before it was freeview just TV1 and 2) with 1M dish, then added the TechnoTrend 1500+CI for the Ausi channels which was very unreliable so that card is now just a 2nd DVB-S card for freeview. Then I added the HVR-2200 for Freeview HD. Over the top? Maybe

No such thing!! I'd be looking at doing a major upgrade to the kind of specs you guys have to get HD, especially since I have a 50" HD Plasma but I'm behind a hill (in Pukekohe) and I doubt that I'll ever get an HD signal - any idea how I can find out if I can get the signal now?

But i would like to get EPG info for my PVR150 card so i can record from Prime.

Problem 1 is that my MP box is NOT ONLINE. (perhaps i could run a epg grabber on another box and copy TVXML file on to MP box)

Problem 2 is can i set MP to read EPG data from DVBs and from TVXML file, so that both my cards have epg info and everything matches?

Yesdup: You don't need xmltv you can get everything from DVB-S. Are you using the PVR-150 for sky with an IR blaster?
