Thought Id bite the bullet tonight and upgrade from 1.1.3 to 1.2.1 as I have a few hours spare. Only thing is I cant get it upgrade to get passed trying to install directx 9c. Whats that all about? Just keeps saying the install has failed. I cant find anything obvious in the install forum, unless my searching needs some work

    Hi martyyn

Did you manage to get the installation issue sorted? If not, make sure you run the installer with admin privileges. If that still doesn't work then could you please post your install log - open MP configuration, click on the drop-down arrow in the top left corner and select "open log directory", zip up all the files that you find there and post the zip file here.

    Hi All,

I've got a couple of weird things going on - possibly linked - which I haven't been able to find the answers to so I figured I'd ask here first:

    1. If I click the MyVideo link from either the BasicHome or ClassicHome menus it jumps to the MusicPlaylist screen - it's impossible for me to get to the MyVideos folders  I've had this happen before on my Server/Client setup (this time it's on a client) and the only "solution" I could come up with was to reinstall MP = less than ideal

    2. For some reason I now have no sound when I play videos or TV (but music is OK). wtf?

I haven't changed anything on this client other than working on skinning mvCentral for Avalon - I'm at a loss to understand what has happened here so any advice would be much appreciated.

Note: Restarting doesn't fix either of the above problems

    Cheers

    Hi Bleazle

Sorry to hear you're having trouble.

Sounds like the link in your MediaPortal.xml file is mixed up. This has happened to a few people over the past few months (example). To fix, close MP then open C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\MediaPortal.xml in any text editor and make the changes described -->here<--.

    2. For some reason I now have no sound when I play videos or TV (but music is OK). wtf?
Looks like you're using the Microsoft DTV-DVD Audio Decoder codec for MPEG and AC3/DD and the MPC - MPA Decoder Filter for AAC audio. I didn't actually think the MPC codec supported AAC. Try the Monogram codec for that. As for the recording: that seems to be a Stratos recording with only an MPEG audio track - the Microsoft codec *should* play it fine.

    Hey mm,

I'm trying to configure TV Server for viewing S-Video input from a HVR-2200. I had this working a few years ago with MP. I have an old VCR recorder and I want to work through recording some videos or throwing them out after seeing what's on them.

I'm getting video but no audio from the microphone/line-in jack. I can see from the Vista Windows Mixer VU meter that it is receiving the audio from the VCR but MP Server is not taking it. The S-Video channel setting has "Automatic" for the audio. I tried Line-In#1 but no luck. Any ideas how to get the sound working?

    Thanks.

    Hi rlevis

    I hope you're well. :)
It sounds like you're on the right track by looking at the audio source setting. It might also just be a playback issue though, so have you tried making a recording and playing the recording in other software like VLC?

    mm1352000: :D

Your first link fixed the Video problem - I've only had this issue since upgrading to MP 1.2 so it was good to know it wasn't just me.

Re: Sound: I Haven't changed any of my settings and everything was playing fine up until this morning so I went through the Device Manager and updated my sound drivers - all good now :) I've got no idea how the sound got "broken" but at least it's sorted now :)

    Thanks again!

(PS. I reckon Christian Cullen won his fight tonight :D )

    Somewhat offtopic.

I'm about 2 weeks away from moving to another house and hiring a TV aerial guy to install a satellite dish, UHF antenna, and I also want a single dipole VHF-FM antenna so I can continue to listen to FM radio in MP. I suspect FM radio is only working currently as I have VHF low band and VHF high band antennas combined into the coax.

There are only 2 runs of RG6 in the new house, so I was thinking LNB1 + UHF combined on the roof on one coax and LNB2 + FM on the other using 2 combiners I've seen which handle both UHF or VHF + Satellite.

Or should perhaps UHF+VHF+LNB1 be on one of coax, and just LNB2 on the other? I haven't found a combiner that will to all 3 yet. I think this would need a UHF/VHF diplexer first, and then feed this into another diplexer which handles UHF/VHF plus satellite.

In the house I've got 2 satellite receivers and 2 UHF/FM receivers. That's 4 antenna sockets in my MP box.

Obviously a DiSEqC will be required for the 2 LNB's. I believe the BTG3600 should handle DiSEqC ok.

Is a splitter required to split the UHF/FM and satellite signals from the coax before the 2 satellite coaxes hit the DiSEqC switch? Or doesn't matter which way around this occurs?

The FM component seems to make this somewhat more complicated. Somewhere the UHF & FM signals need to be combined into the same coax. Not sure if this should be done on the roof or in the house.

    Cheers.
