Hi again

So you're able to import the data manually but TV Server doesn't detect when the file is updated - is that correct?

mm

Correct, the EPG Grabber program is generating an updated xml file as it should automatically. The XmlTV plugin in the TV Server is not automatically updating when the xml file has been updated. I can however run an import manually and everything is fine.

    Hmmmm

Could you specify the value that you've entered as the path to the file. I'll try to reproduce as I use this setup myself. Your tv.log and error.log would also be helpful in case there is some kind of exception being thrown.

    Hi Folks,

Im based in Gisborne and have a MP setup i've been using for the last few years now. Mid last year, Gisborne was enabled for DVB-T which I started using for TV (I replaced a Hauppauge Nova-S with a Hauppauge Nova-T and reconfigured MP to prefer the DVB-T on my HVR3000)... Everything was working ok including the EPG.

Since mid-november 2011 the EPG data started missing bits, the text in the TV guide randomly vanished and was replaced with a '.' . I've tried various re-config option on the cards including enabling or disabling the EPG grabbing on DVB-T cards and tweaking the timeouts and settings on the EPG options.

Over the xmas new year period, this issue seems to have become worse. It now seems I can get EPG data for TVNZ DVB-T channels or MediaWorks DVB-T streams, but rarely both... The only way I can get a full EPG is to use the 'refresh EPG data' in the TVServer config, if I click this and wait around 15-20mins, the EPG data is fully complete...

I've attached screen captures of the TV Guide to show the . data and my EPG settings.

If anyone else can suggest how I might resolve this issue, it would be appreciated although I suspect the issue may be due to the poor DVB-T implementation in Gisborne!

    Cheers,
    Andy

    Hi Andy

Freeview has two kinds of EPG:
    1. EIT
    2. MHEG 5

MP supports EIT but not MHEG 5.
On Freeview satellite there are full 8 day guides in both EPG formats.
On Freeview HD (terrestrial DVB-T) the full guide is only available in the MHEG 5 format. There is only now/next EIT information.

You need to disable grabbing on the DVB-T tuners and have a DVB-S tuner available for EPG grabbing or use an external programme to grab the MHEG EPG and export it in XMLTV format so that you can import it into MP. The EPG Collector is highly recommended.

TranceManNZ: I haven't had a lot of time to test but in the limited time I had I was not able to reproduce the issue you're seeing.
    :sorry:

Ok, So I did this... disabled EPG grabbing on the 2 x DVB-T (HVR1200 & HVR3000) tuners & left EPG grabbing enabled on DVB-S tuner (HVR3000). I then did a manual EPG refresh which worked fine. Now 24hrs later, I have the same problem starting ... some program names changed to a '.' ... (correct duration)

So I tried starting live TV, then used the manual control to see which card was being used - MP was correctly using the HVR1200 1st. I then clicked the manual 'refresh EPG data' whilst TV was playing... nothing happened. So I stopped TV, hit refresh EPG data and I see the DVB-S/HVR3000 grabbing the EPG. Starting live TV whilst the EPG is being grabbed caused the EPG process to stop until I stopped live TV, the EPG process then restarted automatically... I did the basic checks of 'are the cards sharing an IRQ?' and ' are the cards using the same drivers?' - both answer are no.

I may just have to accept that I am going to have to try EPG Collector...

@thekiwi - how is your EPG setup? Are you using DVB-T or -S?

    Thanks,
    Andy

    Hi again Andy

Might pay to have a read of this thread on Geekzone. Note that you're not able to get EPG for the DVB-T channels from the satellite so if you need EPG for them then the EPG Collector is the way to go.
