Try to change in FFDshow audio decoder DTS decoder from Libavcodec to Libdts.

BTW, your goal is to play this WAV or to passthrough it?

If you simply want to play it, try to apply this patch.

Make sure you have latest SAF installed and your file have *.WAV extension.

You should now have such graph:

AW: Re: Cant play .wav files with dts sound (only whitenoise)

Remove MP and WMP from this altogether.
Add an AC3File filter to a blank page in graphstudio. Then add your audio renderer.

Then try different filters and settings in the middle and figure out what is working with passthrough.

Then change the merits of the filters to force this setup in WMP. When it is working in WMP it will work in the WMP player plugin here

Like i said, it works fine in Graphstudio. With AC3file even passthrough.

I just need to find out how to make WMP use AC3 Filter.

Try to change in FFDshow audio decoder DTS decoder from Libavcodec to Libdts.

You have Win7 x86 or x64?

My goal is to passthrough it. Without passthrough it works for .dts files (also for .wav if i just rename them to dts) using SAF. I alrdy tried libdts and libavcodec. Both only work without passthrough.
Im using Win 7 x86.

As above, if DTS in WAV is not coming out as DTS then something is messing with the sound. It is more than likely the sample rate of your card and it will be resampling everything to this rate. As far as players are concerned WAV files are just raw audio. The DTS trick works because the 1s and 0s hitting the amp appear the same as a DTS bitstream. If you PC starts changing these 1s and 0s (eg. resampling) it will no longer come through as bit-perfect and you get whitenoise as your amp also assumes it is just audio coming through.

This is nearly always down to hardware and/or drivers. There is a good chance your soundcard simply can not output the audio without messing with it.

If you want a fair simpler solution (IMHO anyway) then re-rip the DTS as pure DTS files. Then use AC3File and they will then be assumed to be DTS the same as in films.

To play WAV 5.1 files you can install AC3 filter, install AC3 Files (change sometime merit of AC3filter to prefered) AND rename your files as .dts

PS: Don't forget to add .dts to audio music Extension in the MP config
PS2: This solution work only if you use internal dshow player in the MP config

I tried to play DTS too, as file or from Audio-CD. Today I get it running. Here my configs (i'm using asio4all):

    - Sampling-Rate in Audio-Driver set to right frequency (the one that is used in the dts-file, 44,1 kHz in my case)
    - in MP-Config->Music-> "sound Device" set to "HD Audio Output" instead of "Default Sound Device" (hint was: set to "Default DirectSound Device")

Changing the player from BASS to directshow was not necessary.

    Hi,
if you change the audio frequency (48khz --> 44.1khz) to read dts audio files, don't you have some problems now, to watch movies with dts or dolby audio tracks?

No, movies run like a charm. Check that with a DTS and DD audio track, both 48kHz.

    humm.
It means that the audio quality in your movies is now lower for dts or dolby tracks. No?

I don't know. Looks like it has to be resampled, but thats a question for the experts here.

In fact i don't hear a difference in audio quality - sound is really good. On the other hand - i do not have an example (of the original audio quaity) to compare to.
