Client crashing when entering live TV - logs attached (1 Viewer)

Please advise - reset both server and client and still cant get the client to connect the TV server

Hi,

your TVSeriesDatabase4.db3 seems to be broken. Try to make a backup and remove it to check if it helps.

This database has broken a few times. Is there any way to protect against it breaking?

Should I not use TV Series and try something else?

Any help greatly appreciated, trying really hard with MP, but its just problem after problem, want it to work, thanks

You have to close stuff down cleanly, otherwise expect open files to have the possibility of being corrupted.

If you are saying that I should be stopping the TV service, going back to MP home and then pressing standby - that is what I do every time. I'm very careful to do this, I dont even Standby with TV service on. I think if you can see any examples of a reset whilst in use (non clean close), I'd only do that if if there is a screen freeze/crash.

This happens too often to me. There must be something not right with my config. I'll re-enable TV series on both clients and monitor the situation, any re-occurance of the issue, I'll post logs.

I don't know how a Sky box works, but PCs are not Sky boxes and with all due respect you can't treat them that way. There is a procedure for recovering SQLite databases... but again I don't think this should be happening if you've configured power management properly.

If I wasn't clear previously...
The fact that you're not able to start live TV when this problem occurs is for all intents and purposes irrelevant. The problem is client side and nothing specifically to do with the TV functionality. MediaPortal gets locked up trying to open/close a corrupt database. In my opinion the database is prone to corruption because it is not closed or saved to disk before the PC enters standby.

Thanks for the responses. It makes sense what you say.

Maybe I need to look in detail at Power Management - I have never used the PowerSchedular plugin.

The way I go into standby is to finish any media that is playing, return to the MP home page and press standby on the remote - same process for all three clients. The screen then fades to black and PC goes into sleep mode. To wake the PCs straight into MP I press Standby or OK on the remote.

Just to go back on the broken TVSeriesDatabase4.db3 issue. As I was updating to 1.7.1 hotfix I just deleted all the TVSeriesDatabase4.db3 files in c drive. I had to then re-configure the file paths in My TV Series config and run the import again - all has been fine since so far
