I'd like to know whether there is a document describing the protocol used for communication between the client (MediaPortal) and the server (TVE3) and where to find it.
There is no real "protocol" or API unfortunately, clients typically go straight to the server database or use one of the classes shared by both server and client code (which also basically go straight to the database). There's a small remoting interface for some TV engine operations.
Perhaps it would help if you explain what you'd like to do, and then someone could point you in the right direction...
Basically I am interested on using TVE3's stream to feed media center through DVBSBridge. I'm not sure about how such efforts would be seen by the MediaPortal community, but I've had request for this setup. I just want to study the possibilities.
TVE3 server offers a lot of versatility and that's what lots of MCE users needs.
Also if you want to have some control over the data that is feed thru the RTSP then you should have a look on the TVE3 client plugin and how its controlling the TV server (changing channels etc.).
Hi Fred, this is something that I would be very interested in, in fact I have started looking into the concept this weekend. Have you managed to get anything going on this?
Ok, so perhaps a solution, but not the "right" solution. On the client, within media portal configuration, under TV settings, advanced options, I switched to UNC paths instead of the default RSS, and it's working very well. Sure I had to figure out the paths, but no big deal.
Maybe helpful for someone in the future. Thanks for the...

Most (all?) small PC cases accept only ITX motherboards, which have only one PCI-E slot. So you could install only one PCI-E tuner card. A quad-tuner card would give you four tuners, but if you wanted more tuners you would need to use the TBS eight-tuner card, or use external tuners, either USB tuners (available with single or dual...
