I have turned off DVB-C EPG grabbing to see if things improved. Sad to say they didn't. I recorded one show, which seemed to have been recorded from start to end and then wanted to watch some live TV, but Mediaportal froze. Had to restart the PC. The TV-server is dying hard. It cannot even be restarted. Not without restarting the PC. But all this is just for the Terratec H7 tuner.

OK i have the strangest thing happening here.....

This morning i noticed my windows time running 8 minute fast ( 11:48 am instead of 11:40 am ).
I changed the server my HTPC sync his time with and now the time is accurate again.

For the rest of the day i've watched television using MP ( mostly HD channels ) and noticed the stutters are gone.

I keep a small log file of what i've changed to MP/HTPC so i'm able to trace back possible problems and solutions.

Before posting this message i modified my windows time source again to make it run fast and voila...... stutters again..............

Could a large mismatch between DVB-C and Windows time cause stutters on HD channels????

I am decreasing the problems. After I have unchecked all DVB EPG checkboxes and confirmed in the logs that EPG grabbing is disabled, the TVserver and Mediaportal are no longer crashing for me. So, this is currently not working in MP.

The only thing left now to remedy is the 1 second freezing/macroblocks every now and then. The TSreader is full of late and compensated frames. I guess that is causing the short freezes. I have also upgraded to the latest Terratec H7 beta driver, but that made no difference. I also know from previous experiments that the tuner is working perfectly with no signal and quality loss in Terratec Home Cinema, so that should not be an issue. I also re-synced my windows time, but that made no difference.

Logs included. I am still on RC5.

hi,

i have this stuttering also now with the actual rc6. i didn't change anything else at the system, only the upgrade from rc5 to rc6. this is the first time i have this stuttering, they are appearing one or two times each minute and they are gone after a second. but this is really annoying.

i can see this in the logfile:

Hi Dale77! Thanks for the tip. Open CCC prior to opening MP did not work. Reinstalling the latest Haali splitter made no difference. Syncing the clock made no difference. I also upgraded to MP 1.1.0RC6. No difference. Except that MP froze during first time opening. Killed with taskmanager and opened again worked, though. I also logged a case to Terratec. The suggestion was to install the standard USB drivers instead of the Intel ones. That made no difference. The TSReader log is still full of video discontinuities and compensated frames. The cable company was to our house today and checked the signal, so that should also be OK.

Logs attached.

Update: I also tested live TV with the Hauppauge Nova T 500 and collected logs. Compensated frames are there too. Is this a normal behaviour? Logs attached

Hi HG. I have similar problems as you with my LiveTV experience. Have you tried to change any TV/video codes? The Gabest worked for me on SD... not on HD though. (Im on a trip to Norway right now, so Im not able to reproduce anything on my HTPC )

Had the same problem. Tried eveything in this tread, nothing helped. Found out that it was EasyTune6 to my Gigabyte motherboard that caused it. Closing it solved the problem.

Tried looking for easytune6, but did not find that program. But I uninstalled Energy Saver as a precaution. Still problems. I also set the MPEG2 codec to Gabest for TV, but still problems. In the TSreader log file, I can see several Video continuity errors. And every now and then the screen gets full of blocks.

Just lending my support.... I have been getting exactly the same symptoms (ongoing gliches and blocky screen from time to time) ever since upgrading through RC3,4,5, & 6. I've tried everything I could possibly think of to solve it but have had no success and it's driving me mad. I only use DVB-S SD and didn't have any such issues with 1.0.2. Will try to post some of my debug logs asap.
