At series or season level -> context menu -> '3' = Add to current playlist -> open up hidden menu -> Current playlist -> play
This will then play everything back-to-back, you can add multiple series, multiple episodes, choice is yours.
You can also enable the option in config where you can simply press 'play' at series or season level and it will play the first unwatched episode, and there are also methods to use remote/keyboard shortcuts to make things a little easier, such as 'Y' to add to playlist. Check the FAQ at the Google code project site for more info otherwise.

MP(1) will only use LAV if you select "Internal DirectShow player" as music output, but then you lose gapless playback.
