I found the best solution is to uncheck de show subtitles option in video configuration, and just add directvobsub option in movie post-processing . I can turn on/off subtitles just fine (using key l) . I havent found a way to change subtitles streams when using sub/idx subs yet

the best solution for me is to full integrate the haali media splitter filter, that allow to select multiple subs (like in mkv) or turn off the sub

Can you please make a step-by-step guide?
I think I've tried almost anything and my current skin doesn't even have a subtitle-button on the OSD.

I'm using the MCE remote.

Tiny guide to get it all working

Hi guys!
Just want to share how I've got it all to work, I can now choose subtitle-language and get it on/off with my MCE remote.

1, Install Vobsub if you haven't, I don't have any more "subtitle-viewing"-program installed (i'm not having ffdshow installed either).
2, In MP Config, be sure to check the "show subtitles" button in the Movie-section. Also choose your default language and font settings.
3, In the section "Movie Post-Processing", add DirectVobSub (auto-loading version) as a filter. Check the box, and then go into "filter properties".
4, Under the "General" tab, be sure to set "Loading" to "Always load", otherwise it won't work (it didn't for me anyway...).
5, Exit MP Config.
6, Be sure that the movie and subtitle-file has the same name.
7, Start MP, start your movie and voíla! You can now choose language (or disable subtitles) by pressing the yellow button on your MCE remote.

I hope this will help someone, because it's a very useful function inside MP!

there is one problem with described method tho.
i added only DirectVobSub (auto-loading version) as a post-process filter in Movies section, but seems like DirectVobSub without auto-loading option is added automatically so i have two directvobsub filters there and subs are not showing.
i can untick checkbox of this one but it works only until mp (or configuration) restart.
are you expiriencing the same problem?

Yepp, I'm experience the same problem as you. Haven't found any solution yet though, hopefully that is a MP bug that can be resolved easily.

Hi,

unfortunately, Haali didn't release the source code of its splitter, and too bad that it is the best splitter for MKV.

The problem is that the tracks data (audio/substitles/chapters) are encoded into a custom directshow interface, and without the source code you can't call the methods to retrieve this data.
At least it would be necessary to know the headers of these interfaces to wrap them into C# code.

i have already made a patch for this, to make MP work (again?) with vobsub subs (srt idx sub etc) and .mkv subs (streams)

jsut wait, dont hold your breath tho, busy at this time :)

I do not know why this xml was in my theme folders, it must have sneaked in some time ago (years?). I simply removed the file. The Latest Media Handler plugin seems to be working as expected. I've had no lock-ups.
