Just wondered if anyone has tried the new version of CoreAVC (3.01) with MP 1.2?
I did use CoreAVC during my WinXp and Vista times. But with the release of W7 and its inbuilt codecs, I am wondering why I should buy CoreAVC.

I found I only needed it for the UK HD Channels (BBC One HD,. BBC HD, ITV HD etc).
    Thanks for the info!
Strange that those channels won't work with MS DTV-DVD codec.
Do you have issues inside MP, or also when playing a tv-recording inside Windows MediaPlayer?

They work, they just don't work very well! :)

I saw corruption, frame drops, stuttering, and other video issues. I think it was with the BBC ones specifically (i think the BBC use a slightly odd HD video format).

I cant remember if I tried playing inside WMP.

I'll stick to CoreAVC, works perfectly, and would rather not mess about with any work in progress :)
Would be very good for MP to know if the changes done by dshowhelper with those issues. The changes might be part of 1.3.0 if testresults are good.
Testing is very easy because it is limited to one binary. :)

Well if theres a good reason, then sure :) Which one of his dlls should I test? Guess I need to re-enable MS codecs too and see what the original problem was

Have a look at this posts, we have the same problem with some HD channels in holland.
It looks like those channels run on 24 or 48 hz.

    1. rename your dshowhelper.dll inside the MP dir to dshowhelper.bak
    2. download the file from Owlsroost https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/749721-post1124.html or v092
    3. use the codecs you had the issue with last time

Apologies folks for my improper post. I was really just wondering if anyone had installed it and had it working OK. I just started getting a few errors...

Since my post my system has gone into meltdown. I went back in to enable logging and post some info, but I started getting errors left right and centre - not just MP related. I got so overwhelmed by them that I decided to restore the system from a backup.

It was still no good, and I now cannot even reinstall Windows - I am getting BSOD's when I boot of the Win7 installation CD. The weird thing is that the exact STOP error keeps changing (ACPI, various drivers... too many to note).

I think maybe my motherboard has a problem. I don't know yet and am about to go away for a few days so it will have to wait. It's not that old (Gigabyte GA-H55-UD2H).

    Thanks for input anyway.

What pain, I was just about to sell it anyway and now I have to fix it first!

warning.. there is a firmware virus around attacking Award flash bios stuff... what you describe is the end result of that..

is nests itself into the firmware.. so restores / backups are totally useless... even clean installs are useless..

the only thing to prevent this is to set the jumper on the mainboard to not allow firmware updates.. but then again .. this might be tolate for you now..

    OLD Link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CIH_(computer_virus)

the virus has been updated.. to attack win7 e.a. but cant find a proper link ..

    goodluck though...

100% my bad - as expected :) So, I had disabled the Windows Update service. Not a wise move, until MP all installed and working nicely. Interesting. :coffee: I always have DVB subtitles enabled in "MP Config", but I actually switch on subtitles only for those films that have deafening sound effects and music, combined with inaudible dialogue. I have never noticed the problem that you have described, but I also use the EVR renderer, and not the Madvr renderer. So...

After Tv Movie EPG Import++ is unrepairable, I tried Tv Movie EPG Import. Unfortunately, the import gets stuck here. Does anyone have an idea why this could be, or does it still work for anyone at all?

Ok, thanks much. I will look into the instructions above. For the moment, I turned off the "Automatic channel logo update" in Settings (which somehow I had missed, I think because it wasn't an option previously), and the deleted everything in the Flat-default folder and populated it with my own logos. Works, so far.
