this is a tricky one.

After some further testing I can state, that it doesn't matter, whether the TV-Service is running or not when installing RC2.

Yes thats right, I did stop TV-Service manualy...
I always do before updating ;-)

question:

what else depends on upgrade and the tv-service

SQL ---> not neccesary which on ( MS-SQL or mySQL see 2nd post)
path ----> not neccesary if custom or not ...

hmm what about single seat or multiseat ... (not the Remote-desktop question)
is there a difference in the procedere if the upgrade is running on a singel seat machine or a multi-seat server?
or was that the same question with RDP?

What about already installed TV Server plugins? Anyone had IRSS TV3 Blaster and/or BackupSettings installed before upgrading to RC2?

Only TV plugins I had installed were

• Comskip
• PowerScheduler
• XMLTV

but thinking about it I also have BigKev's web server installed (but as that is not inside MP I can not see that causing an issue, after initial crash I did check that TV service was stopped and this would have disconnected web server from MP)

NO-upgrade crash @ single-seat
plugins:

only the "normal" plugins which come with the maya skin (tv-series etc f. t. frontend)
plus - mystreamradio

nothing like "blaster" or Backup-Settings ...

Multi Seat.

No extra plugins installed.
Only the ones wich come with MP.

It's a dedicatet MP Server, Only Server part installed on this machine.

I only tested it with what you might call single seat installation (I'm not familiar with that term), which means server and client are on the same computer and no further clients are used.

Btw. I'm using no Tv-Server plugins at all!
