My problem with getting bitstreaming to work, is that if I register the matroskasplitter.ax file, then alot of my mkv and .ts files just won't play from within MP (although MPCHC) plays them just fine. If I just install haali media splitter, then all my files play fine, but any with the DTSHD or TrueHD then just stutter and won't playback properly.

Does anyone know why would I would have such issues with the matroskasplitter.ax?

You need to define mediatypes in registry for MKV, M2TS, etc...

Any how would 1 go about doing that?

All i can say - if you do not known how it is working, do not touch it...
Use SAF5, it will setup it fully automatically for you.

Yesterday, I installed ATI 5750 and followed the guide to enable Bitsteaming but when I tried to play any mkv Media Portal gave me an error saying that it cannot play the file. So I installed Shark007 codec pack and everything started working but files stopped playing in MP-HC, so I removed the codec pack (and x64 component add on) and even though now my mkv play in Media Portal, audio does not bitstream :(

I got tired of the loud fan on my video card so I upgraded to a fanless ATI 5570 card. I also have HD audio working with it. I posted the guide here too.

Wow, I tried this tonight on my server with an Asus - ATI 5750 and it works perfect! The only thing different I did from BMan's instructions is use the Realtec HDMI Audio driver instead of the ATI driver. The audio switching issue I had with the Xonar is gone!

I never have been a ATI fan, but it is truly working great. No green screens, movies are fluid, everything is working great. Now I just need to get it working with XBMC :)

    Thanks BMan!

    BMan,
Okay I have had one small issue. Sometimes when I start a movie, the timeline shows 0:00 at the beginning and End, thus I am not able to FF, RW or skip ahead or back. Is this due to the MPC Splitter?

    Any help is appreciated... Thanks!
    Wile E.

I've seen that before and it was on a .ts file with mpeg2 video. Is yours similar?

Oddly enough, I cant pin it to any type of video. And whats really weird is, sometimes it will work okay and sometimes it doesnt. For instance, I have a H264, DTS-MA video that I start and everything looks good. Then I stop it and start it again, it shows 0:00 as start and end time.

I have seen this behavior on m2ts, ts or mkv with H264, mpeg2 or VC1 videos. I cant seem to find a consistant pattern as to why/what it is doing. I dont think I have seen this behavior on DVD's or live TV though.

Im using the MPC Video Decoder and FFDShow for audio. Now that I think about it, I think I may have FFDShow Audio Decoder in the video post processing (I put that in there when I was using the SAF codecs but forgot to remove.) I wonder if that is causing an issue? I will check that when I get home.

For the life of me I cannot get DTS Master Audio to work. DTS TrueHD works fine. I also noticed that none of the mkvs with DTS audio have sound. I'm using Shark007 codec pack and I have configured it according to the guide posted earlier. I have double checked the DTS is check to pass through in FFDShow.

On the other hand, everything work in MPC-HC. Any suggestions ?
