This is my current tv osd. You think that it's ugly? please post your comments... ;)

Ugly...i would not say ugly, but i like the movie OSD more.
And i most say that iam not so happy with the program info on the upper part of the screen. But that just me... i just change it my self when the 16:9 version is released.

Is there no progress bar to the program info?

Keep up that good work Vanessa. You rock...

that OSD is fine as it is! you should stay with it if you ask me!

I tried the latest beta (3 aug) on my 28" widscreen CRT and it didn't really work very well. EG on 'My Videos' the covers just blended into the background as did many of the other screens.

I was curious to try it as it had been nom'd as the future default screen. I'm sure it looks great on a monitor but not enough contrast on a CRT TV IMHO. I reverted to MCE that I find the most straightforward looking.

Maybe when a single skin is standardised we need in addition to the 1024x768 & 1280x720 a 768x576 higher contrast version for TV's. That's asssuming there are still a lot of people using CRT TV's. Is there a poll for what display type people who run a a dedicated MP use it on.

On my side, I like the transparence aspect of this OSD, better than the video OSD which is not so "glossy" (hope you can understand what I mean).

One question. Why the pink overlays in fullscreen TV.

Can you tell me which xml file this osd is in as would like to fix it? Appears when you select channel by remote number.

    Thanks

Sorry but I use MP on CRT TV 29" and look really great, good contrast and very readable.

    regards.

Bizarre, the pink osd when you change channels is calibration_bar.png! So change it to a better graphic if you like but don't forget to delete all the pack*.* files in the skin folder!

I would be suprised by that, old CRT monitors have much higher contrast ratio's to modern LCD's & it looks great on my 37"

'ugly' is quite heavy word and i wouldn't say anything you did for mp is ugly. just oposite, i'm quite pleased when you are posting any new post with ideas and/or downloads/patches.

just wanted to say that video osd is more clean and well organized comparing to tv osd and i think is good idea to make those two look similar.
for example, in tv osd you could put channel logo with two arrows for browsing channels in upper left corner (just like in video osd) and extend recorded programm info with description in video osd to the far right like in tv osd.
bottom of those two osd's could also be similar if you use lower left corner to display current time in tv osd (in place where you are showing elapsed time in video osd)... if that's possible. i really miss to see current time at some point while watching live tv in mp, something like i have on my stb devices (standalone dvb-s and dvb-t).

and at the end, personally i like more overlay colour of video osd than tv osd...

what do you think of all that?

btw, i'll think about new nick you gave me ;)

    rgs,
    pirlone

    I second that, too.

Well specifically the My Videos screen with large icons, there was a kind of white smoke effect on lower part of screen that merged in with the thumbnails on lower part so they could hardly be seen (when dimmed). I have been used to using MCE on TV and did find your skin to be generally quite bright on the eyes.

re other guy this is on a CRT TV not a CRT Monitor.
