What OS are you using xp or vista, which codecs do you have selected for DVD playback, does turning off dxva in DVD config help.

im using xp
ive tryed nvidia purevideo codecs and ffdshow
and turning off dxva doesnt help

Windows Media Player acquires a licence to play the dvd, this seems not to be getting passed to mediaportal.

Maybe it is down to a particular DVD, have had ones that will not even play in a pc they are so heavily drm'd.

Can you play any original dvd, or is it totally copies only.

i can play all copies and some original dvd´s in MP
in WMP i can play all dvd´s (copies and originals)

You could rip the ones that do not work to your HD

Just a thought, is this using MP on a full administrator account, that may be the only thing i can think of.

yes its a full administrator account

i installed powerdvd 7, selected its codecs in the MP configuration and still no luck
reinstalled MP over the previous one and still no luck

I GOT IT WORKING!!!!!!

it doesnt solve the REAL problem...but it works!
ive installed anydvd and selected the option to go directly to dvd main menu.
i think the problem is with MP handling some anti-copy protections (keep in mind i was using a Desperate Housewifes original DVD)
