Hi,
nowhere, this cannot be changed. In fact dvr-ms already is mpeg, it only has a different container (wrapper). You can strip of this container without quality loss. MP->TV->Recordings->Compress or manually with graphedit.

Don't count on the built-in compress feature to work. Try the Transcoding plugin
