Was wondering...

I manually removed some of my fanart, external to the plugin, and the db still lists the images. Other than a full scrape, can you add a refresh button to the image manager to check the image folder and remove any images from the db not found in the folder?

I'm also getting a few erroneous scrapings. for example: I've got a whole list of images named the jackson(#). it includes anything from Janet Jackson, the Jackson 5, Michael Jackson and a few other artists that have the name 'jackson' in them (and all I need is 'the Jackson 5'). Or , johnny(#), which includes several artists with the name Johnny in them (when I'm needing only 'Johnny Cash')., and angels(#) with several artists listed that have the name 'angels' in them (when all I need is 'the angels')

Could you also abbreviate the file path for the images in the image manager so that the image name is visible without scrolling the window to the side? .. or at least put a column before the file path that lists the image name alone.

Is there a way you can put the number that is added to the artist name for the downloaded fanart in parentheses to set it off from the artist name better? artist names that end in a number get lost. Maybe even add a space as well.

hi cul8er ! i test v8 ...

this time i test as a new user , i delet all file's that conected to fanhandler ...

after instal the plugin did not great the music folder in the skin fanart folder,

for same reson ,the save buten in config' Disappear when i move bitwin the option ,once i close the plugin and open again the save
buten is back , but when i was in "mange fanart" option it's Disappear again.

i config' the plugin in the scraper option i anble 2 of them and the plugin download the same fanart again , so evry played artist
get the same fan art 2 time ,

if i un check the option for download fanart when music playing ,then it's o.k ..no downlad fanart any more ,but in db i can see
evry fanart 2 time some 3 time ,again in the db only , in the fanart folder all o.k just 1 fanart each.

same as chuck i can see some scraper error ,you get fanart but not the corect artist (the doors ,kenny g ,simon and garunkel..)
but i can say out of 150 artist i test , thir was only 7 mistick so it prety good...
i also thing a refresh buten for the db will be great .

and maybe can add anther Coulom in the db "mange fanart" for resolution ,

Thanks for the new beta.

I tested it and I found a little bug.
When I open the fanart handler plugin, I see "SAVE" in the lower right corner as it should be. When I go to the "manage Fanart" tab, the SAVE button is gone. Even if I go back to the first tab, it is still gone.

Also I have a question.
Is it possible to manually add images to the skinfanart/movies folder or does the plugin go and try to scrape the contents?
The reason I ask is because I use moving pictures for my movies ofcourse (which have its own nice backdrops), but I use MyMovies for my home videos. I would like to put in nice pictures of my 10 months old daughter in the background. Does the plugin try to scrape things from internet of those files?

on downloading v0.8, I see that it is 125KB on the download page, but is 121KB on my hdd ... am I all wonkey?

I downloaded using a different computer and the file size came down as 126KB. and it was the correct file this time, don't know why my first tries never refreshed the file. I kept getting the older file.

Sizes reported by OS always differ, has to do with OS specifics and underlying hardware (the actual HD, and more specifically clusters). So no you are not wonky
Although most of the time they tend to be larger then the filesize reported online, which makes sense, smaller doesn't to me atm

Hi ysmp,

This problem was also reported by me and unfortunately there is no easy way to solve it as I understand.
The problem actually is that online there are 2 resolutions available, the plugin can't distinguish them on filename basis (apparently, haven't checked) so it downloads both resolutions. That's why you end up with 2 of them (if 2 resolutions are available online, most of the time they are -> full-hd and hd-ready)

When you are in the configuration tabs, if you go to the last two tabs (image management and about) and the go back to the first two tabs, the save button disappears.

I'm using it to only scrape images for an artist that is currently playing and it's working fine

I was finally able to download the 0.8 version on another computer.

here are some stats from my most recent scrape.:

of 256 albums (quite a few compilation discs) so I have no idea how many artists... but more than the album count.
- 68 artist names listed in the plugin.
- 403 images downloaded.
- 23 of the listed artist names were mis-scraped, of them, 6 artists didn't have fan art on HT Backdrops and 5 names were not artist names (shortened/incomplete forms)
- 90 wrong images.

so, in effect, nearly 1/4 of the scraped images were incorrect.

Hi cul8er - sorry I did not get a chance to test Beta 7 but I have now tested Beta 8:

1. Scraping is now working in Now Playing for me
2. Yes using selected fanart in Music Playlists is fine, I prefer it. But thanks for explaining the idiosyncracies of that xml as it explains a few other things as well lol!
3. The tooltips in Config are very nice. Thank you, although they are too long to read in the time they display

The plugin creates the folders when it is enabled and you load MP. It works for me. However, this may be confusing for users who install the plugin and go to copy their fanart to those folders before loading MP as they don't exist yet!

One minor issue, if you 'accidentally' remove your skin fanart folder, the plugin will recreate the folders, but the db will throw up endless errors for all the missing images. However, if you just remove some manually, like Chuck did, it does not give errors.

Scraping - is the scraper supposed to manage characters with diacritics? I spelled Björk properly and emphatic had uploaded some nice fanart using the correct spelling (thx emphatic ) but the scraper would not find it!

I am now going to try scraping for all 2500+ artists I'll report back if my system survives!

My first try at using only playing songs to scrape (rather than using music db) it missed Angélique Kidjo right away, had to add it manually to the folder, then it displayed fine.
