Thank you all for your feedback. I have found most of your reported bugs and have also looked at your improvement suggestions. A new version will come later tonight or early tomorrow.

i notest 2 more things with version 8b (problay last time i test i was to tyerd it was 03:00 am... )

1- the animation bitwin the fanart seams mach faster then v5.2b (sorry i did not test v6~v7 ) so it not look so good ...
2- after first cycle (30 sec) when time to the fanart to change i can see my music backgrownd for a split sec' ,evry time ...

Hi ysmp,

Thank you for your feedback but this is skin issues and is nothing that I can control in the plugin. The skin controls what background images that will be visible at a given time and if you have an image visible allways and then the two fanart images fading you will see the one allways visible for some split seconds. The animation between images is also controlled by the skin (the fade time).

Hi,

Beta 0.9 is now available.

I have fixed the following bugs;
* scraper now handles diacritics (like Björk or Angélique Kidjo)
* scraper now matches artists correctly (solves the "the jackson" problem and many more)
* save button now visible in all tabs but the About and Manage Fanart tabs.
* duplicated images downloaded is fixed
* images scraped was allways added to the database twice
* tooltip display time increased
* and some more minor things

This version also includes most of your suggestions like;
* a refresh button in config that removes any images from the db not found in the image folder
* a new column for image name (without path)
* MPI file now creates the fanart folders (before these was only created once you open MP or MP Configuration)

If you want to try this new version you should do this;
* copy your fanart in the /thumbs/skin fanart/music to a backup location
* delete all fanart in the /thumbs/skin fanart/music folder
* copy your /database/fanarthandler.db3 file to a backup location
* delete your /database/fanarthandler.db3 file
* install Beta 0.9

Could you create a separate download with just the dll in there? The MPE1 installer has changed resulting in errors with last SVN.... Cant test it like this.

Hi cul8er, been following this thread with baited breath - can't wait to use the scrapper to populate my music database with fanart. When do you think this will be ready for us lowly end users.

You can get the dll in cul8er's SVN repository. Just not sure if there's any other installation steps in his mpe1 installer..

Hi Cul8er - Drat! I had just finished scraping 2500 artists! I got almost 2000 images, though many duplicates (set to download 3 images). I am now rescraping with new version (it's in the B's now) and will let you know the results.

I have to say, it went really smoothly and not a single corrupt image even though I was loading/unloading MP constantly while scraping. NICE JOB!

re Beta 9 - a few minor points:

1. your MPEI copies all the readme.txt files to the thumbs folder not to the separate skin Fanart folders
2. Is there any way to scrape only 'new artists'? In Beta 8 I noticed even after I had scraped all my music, the plugin was still rechecking every artist and it did seem to have a slight effect on performance.
3. Is there any way to 'manually' link fanart to artists? Some of my fanart does not show an artist in the Manage Fanart tab e.g. Artist "112". Would it be easy to enable the ability to edit the Artist field in the Manage Fanart tab. This could also solve problems of the stray mismatches that might still occur.

The last two points I consider 'enhancements' not essential. I don't think it is fair to make you delay the final release for any 'extra' features I have requested

And one little question! For those skins that wish to include the plugin with the skin install, will fanart.org ever change? I mean can we simply provide the latest dll with each new release?

OK, Scraping is now completed. It took about 3 hrs 15 min at 512Kbps for about 2500 artists and found 939 images set at max 3 images per artist. There are a few duplicates since the same image has been posted on htbackdrops more than once in some cases. But it looks pretty good! The only case with no artist name in the Manage Fanart tab is the artist I mentioned previously - "112"
