Of course DXVA is on! I tested it with MPEG2 and H264-channels! If DXVA is disabled the frame rate of the gui is 25 fps (PAL). With DXVA on the frame rate is always 50 fps. I have the latest Power DVD-version installed. With Catalyst 8.11 Mediaportal still flickers - with 8.12 not anymore - at least for me.

Well... it still flickers sometimes... but only in very stressful situations.

Just switch TV on and go to "My Pictures". The icons of the pictures in the folders causes Mediaportal to flicker. The behaviour of the flicker has changed somehow - now the borders of the resized picture preview flickers a bit - not the background.

Disabling Cool & Quiet makes things also a little bit better (less flicker in My Pictures with TV on). If I just go to the EPG and scroll throught it - I definately have no flicker any more. That's a great improvement. Let's hope that ATI can tweak a little more performance out of their drivers.

    Finally! With 8.12

    Hi mates,

yes. I have installed ATi Catalyst package 8.12 (final) and the flickering of MP GUI is gone on my setup! :D

my setup: MP 1.0 RC4, Cyberlink PDVD 7 (as video codec with DXVA), Vista 32 HomePrem, HD3200 onboard, Phenom X3 8450, Indigo 2.4 Skin

DXVA is not broken (good 1080i picture with low CPU, superb deinterlacing of SD-TV etc.), that is not the explanation :)

What a nice gift from ATi for christmas :)

BTW: i have correct black levels now without any regisrty tweaks (which I needed before for correct level expansion)!!

so People, who say ATi manages to break things with new releases, I say you are not right. Finally my ATi/AMD hardware works as it should have done from the beginning grrrrrrrrr

Just tried the 8.12 drivers on my system (see spec in my profile), DXVA is working on x264 encoded files (no subtitles obviously).

I'm on XP and use VMR9 so never had flickering problem caused by graphics drivers.

It's taken so long to get DXVA working I don't think I'll ever change them!

Problem still here (vista32, EVR), although a lot less frequent flickering, so, a lot better!

I forgot to mention that not all skins behave the same. I use MP RC4 with Indigo 2.4 Skin, this combo is (for me) flickerfree.

Or it is the Phenom vs. X2 or the 128 MB sideport VRAM. Who knows.
