Flickering Tv-guide and other overlays with EVR enabled (3 Viewers)

It's a pitty that this issue has not been solved for such a long time and instead is moved from one release to the next. Seems quite difficult to find out the real cause. IMHO it is the most annyoing bug still present in MP cause it makes all the efforts the designers and developers have taken to make MP look impressive quite useless. Any chance to get any further with this issue? Anything I can test?
Please test what rtv has proposed few months(?) ago. Currently there is no clue what other could cause it on the remaining systems that are still affected after the surface to texture video rendering change.

Maybe I mixed up the threads and posted it in our internal team section by accident.
Testing is easy:
Use overclocking tools or an alternate BIOS from here to make sure your gpu memory is using the same frequencies for all load scenarios. There are even easy to use BIOS mod tools which allow you to save your own BIOS and just tweak the clock rates.
Light version of testing:
Those ATI users which do NOT see the issue (e.g. chemelli?) could look up their exact model and check if its BIOS is using the same speeds.
I would help if I could. I have this issue (780g/HD3200 onboard, Phenom X3, Catalyst 9.3, Vista 32bit, EVR, MP 1.0.2). Which vRAM frequencies should I check or test? I have shared memory (system RAM DDR2 800 MHz 2 GB , 512 assigned to GFX, HT3.0 CPU memory controller, 128 MB sideport video memory). I think I can set the system RAM frequency only (and shared memory with it).Hi
I only have flikering overlay, when i watch a SD channel, if I watch a HD channel the flickering is gone.
So I gueess its a codec problem.

Now I tryed to switch between codecs to see if it helped.
I use Vista sp1 with EVR

CBVA DMO wrapper filter (No Flicker)

Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD8) (Flicker)
Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder (Homenetwork) (No Flicker)
Microsoft MPEG-2 Video Decoder (No Flicker)
MPC - MPEG-2 Video Decoder (Grapest) (No Flicker)
So i now use:
MPEG-2 Video Decoder
Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder (Homenetwork) (No Flicker)
H.264 Video Decoder
Cyberlink H264/AVC Decoder (PDVD8) (No Flicker)

From what I can say you will only see flicker when DXVA is used. So my assumption is you do not see it on codecs not supporting DXVA. Do you know what the difference is between PDVD8 SP and Homenetwork? I have these codecs on my testmachine and will try if I get similar results.

Yes, it is known that codecs using DXVA (decoding through graphics chip) have this issue only, no need for such tests.
It is also known that DXVA delivers significant better picture quality than pure software (CPU) decoders. This is because of the superior deinterlacer of the GPU. So it is recommended to stick to DXVA-codecs.
one compromise could be a software decoder without deinterlacing and letting GPU do the deinterlacing only (this is possible with newer ffdshow). I never tested this, my flickering issue is minor. But I guess even if only deinterlacing is done by GPU the GUI will still flicker; but this is only a speculation.
