here are my logs using watchdog/debug mode

anyways what happens exactly for me is this

launch tv on channel 43.1
then switch to 6.1
the server and the client crash
you must reboot

if i stop the channel then load the second one no error
this only happens between these 2 channels
it also only seems to happen if i switch the channel within 10 seconds of loading

the problem rarely happens on the server (single seat)
but is very reproduceable on the clients

    Hi there,

Had the same problem while changing channels. I viewed the logs and discovered some problem with the teletext module. I disabled subtitles from teletext and voila, everything works like a charm!
While the symptoms might be the same the origin of the problem might be different!

keep up the good works! Thanks!

i probably have a different bug as my tv is in Mpeg2 here in australia, but it also sometimes bugs out when changing channels

i go to the EPG screen to change channels usually... sometimes when i change the channel it brings up the "waiting" scroll (using the StreamedMP skin)..but it will freeze on the EPG screen

i use my remote to hit the "stop" button

then i hit the MCE home button

bingo! im back to the MP home screen and i can navigate my way inside MP and everything works again

another time i alt+tabsed out of MP then back in .. then changing channel would give me a black screen with audio over the top... perhaps a focus issue?

charettepa: I've looked briefly at your logs but I can't tell exactly what is going wrong that is so serious that both MP and TV Server would crash at the same time. That seems very "extreme". I'll take another look when I get home though.

MdFolter, SiLenTYL: either of you got logs? From what you've both described, this issue is *not* the same thing as what charettepa is seeing.

    thank you for reviewing
i have made 1 more observation
when this happens the server isnt completely crashed
another client can connect but regardless of channel selected
    it can never be stopped

any function other than tv continues to work on any other client
but the frozen ones remain frozen

rebooting only the client alows me to do anything but use tv
    in order to use tv
    i must reboot the server

    AW: Freeze while changing channels

What Card Type did you configure in the TV Server ?
    Generic or DVB-C,DVB-S or DVB-T ?
Did you use Pause Graph or STOP Graph ?

    i have a hauppauge hvr 2250
    and a silicon dust hdhr3

    i use stop graph

it is set to generic and changing it to atsc does not help

    atsc = 8vsb

    ***update***

i believe stop graph is not actually stopping
i separated the 2 channels to only work on individual cards
which forces both to start from a stopped state as it actually calls another card rather than reuse the active one
by doing this i am not having any problems at all

would it be possible to add an option forces a full card stop before loading another channel
this will of coarse slow down channel changes if option is selected
but will stop crashing for those who need it
i really dont like keeping the channels set to 1 specific tuner each

hop this helps fix the issue from your end

Hmmmm. So what is the CPU usage like on the frozen client and server when this happens?
Your logs have me really baffled. It is like the log just gets cut short...

Cpu is no different than when in normal operation
The client is basically just waiting for the stream to continue
    The spinny icon is stopped

On server cpu is same as usual but mptvserversetup is not responding
    Killing and restarting dosent help
    As the tvsevice is stuck
    It cannot be stopped
    You must reboot

Please see my last update 2 posts up
It appears stop graph is not stopping
    I have a temp workarround
But only because i have 2 separate tuners

I saw your update after I posted - my internet is playing games (all the torrenters start their downloads at 2am ). I don't think that is the problem at all. I've got a bit of a hunch so let's see if this works:

    1. Stop TV Server.
    2. Take a backup of the TVLibrary.dll in your TV Server install folder.
    3. Download and extract the attached TVLibrary.dll into your TV Server install folder.
    4. Start TV Server.
    5. Try to reproduce the problem.
