it seems that you have problems with some drivers. please check if there are updates for these drivers,
There is also good check of your tv tuner card - Test Channels - MediaPortal Wiki
try to let it run several hours, and if the PC won't freeze - then you can be sure TV driver is ok. But if it freezes after some switches - then you also know who is guilty ;) (i use DD Cine S2 tuner, and some versions of drivers gave me freeze after around 80-120 channel changes in that tool)

AW: Re: Freeze while changing channels

I currently have no idea why this happens.
could u try and disable ur plugins ?
IFC etc.

/gibman

I've just done a quick test by using the debug mode of MP 1.2.0 RC, so that all plugins are disabled.
And up until now I have no freezes. :)
I will investigate further this evening when I have more time.

:D

I did some further tests this evening and it seems that the plugin IFC has caused my problems. After disabling it, I did not have any freezes yet. I have used the IFC 2.0.3 beta version since MP 1.2.0 beta.

I've just installed IFC 2.0.3 final which was released two days ago and this version seems to fix my problems, I did not have any freezes yet.

So my problems are solved, but I will do some further tests over the next days. :)

Thanks for your support. Keep up the good work!

Yes and no. I will have to supply a new one if you can't wait for the follow-up release.

AW: Re: Freeze while changing channels

After trying to solve the driver issues mentioned, the problems still exist.
But I found a manual solution for this:
When TV freezes I switch my usb tv-card off and then switch it on again.
If I then restart the tvservice with a batch file, tv is working again.
This at least saves me a lot of machine restarts, but of course isn't a very smooth solution....
Any ideas?

This indicates a tuner problem. I agree with Vasilich: use the test channels function to test your tuner performance and reliability. If you find it is unreliable then try older or newer drivers.

    Thanks for your replies.

have you tried "test channels" feature i mentioned above?

Yes, I did several times. The result of the longest run was 421 succeeded, 1 failed cause of no pmt.
It seems like the error occurs mostly after the card has been idle for a long time (>1 hour)

I have tested a different driver, which actually made the situation worse. I could only tune in a channel once. When trying to switch channels after the first tune, it says "no signal".
I went back to the older driver then.

as you have indicated that final will not have the correction in it
