Great Plugin...

Thanks for this great plugin.

I have two questions...

- Are any possibility to integrate a button in "My Music" to search?
- Are any possibility to define a "Search folder" ?

Thanks a lot for your work!

Thanks for this great plugin.
Thank you and you're welcome :)

I thought Hwarmann had made this (when Global Search is installed and the search feature in My Music is started, it'll actually launch Global Search), not sure though.

- Are any possibility to define a "Search folder" ?
Please enlighten me on this question, since global search searches through the database. Do you mean that you e.g. only want to search through everything under 'c:\music\Checked and Tagged' and although 'c:\music\Unchecked' is in the music database of MediaPortal, you don't want to search in that directory?

Thanks for using GS :)

Hey guys,

It's been some time now and I picked up some development on the plug-in again. It seems that the 0.1.5ß version works quite well since I haven't heard anything about bugs :). To the point now. I've added the functionality to search through lyrics, if you have stored them on your machine using the MyLyrics plug-in and it works! I think this kind of functionality will come in handy for some people, but I still have a question about the functionality (how it should work):

GlobalSearch will search through the lyrics and ALL words you type have to be in the lyrics. All non alphanumeric characters are stripped, so I'll and Ill will both be found (of cource it's also case insensitive). I think it's a good solution, since if GS would search for ANY word, you would probably get a whole lot of results you don't want.

What do you guys think about this?

nice idea with the lyrics search! this will probably help to find a song in a large database when the title won't come in your mind but you could sing it^^ your mentioned functionality sounds good.

it's not a bug, but one thing i still experienced while using globalsearch: german umlauts (ä,ö,ü and probably also "ß" - i haven't tried) are not recognized (eg: i searched "männer", doesn't find anything. only with "nner" i got the song...), probably you can add that :D

anyway, great plugin! :D

el_gato: I remember something like this earlier in this thread and I have made an MP3 with an umlaut and 'Ringel S' (it's dutch, don't know how it's called in german) in it (große éëê, to be exact) and GS found it when I searched for it. Do you think it might have something to do with keyboard settings? Mine are set to NL or EN and I can only type a ß by using ALT+225 (on the numeric keypad). I will try to set my keyboard to german to check it.

mh, just checked it again. searched for ß (scharfes s, doppel s, buckel s...) and it works. searched for another song with an "ä" in it, die ärzte... lists several songs, but searching again for "männer" won't list any song again - there should be 3. so the problem seems to be the id3-tags of the mp3s i guess. tagged all with tag&rename and thought this tool is quite good, but i will check them manually again :D thx

el_gato: Don't bother, I've found it, it was a bug, I guess... Don't shoot me, since I checked this in a hurry, since I'm actually at work ATM :p and multi-tasking is not something I greatly do ;)

The old code made an uppercase value of the input value and checked that against what was stored in the database. e.g. You type 'Boston' in GS and GS will create the query: SELECT [...] WHERE Upper(strArtist) = "BOSTON" [...]. Using umlauts worked, but SQLite doesn't give a hit on Upper(strArtist) = 'BÖSTON' when "Böston" is stored in the database. I changed this in a way that the code doesn't capitalize the phrases, but the database will, i.e.: Upper(strArtist) = Upper('Böston'). This seems to work like a charm!

Expect a new version with Lyrics search this evening! I hope I can manage it!

I'm back to work now (almost done :p)

People, check the initial post, I have just released version 0.1.6ß! Hope it's bugfree :)
I also submitted it on the frontpage and I will inform the skinners I can find about the updated version (only change is the text of two buttons, so that shouldn't be too much of a problem).

have some problems with the new version. a normal search in my 9000 files is really fast, the songs are listed instantly... but now sometimes a small window appears: "searching... please wait". thought it might take some time for another searchstring cause of the large number of files (but this shouldn't matter... i think) but the window won't go away for hours... nothing happens. tested some strings "girl", "korn", "what", "perfect" for example work, "boy", "limp", "cent", "what is" won't. tested again with the old version (GlobalSearch_0.1.5b.mpi) and i find everything i look for instant again...

probably the searchstrings can help finding the error.
