Would be typcal of Apple to go for something "noone" else does. Why can't they all just work on the same 4K format and make it open source?

~Apple tend to pick up someone else's idea and make it look nice.
I don't believe they've come up with an original idea in about 30 years!

Also, with all the ultra, mega extreme etc. prefixes, what happens when they run out?
Will we get megaUltraExtremeTotallyAwesome HD @ 21600? :D

They should start by getting AppleTV to play 720p High Profile or maybe even 1080p ;)

Well from the sources they think that TV's will be in your living room by 2022. My eye sight will be screwed by then so I dont think i will need it lol.
To be honest how far do you really need to go with the res.
To me 1080 on a 50" screen at 8-10ft looks as crisp as it ever needs to be. I can understand if you have a 65" screen or something but is it REALLY necessary?
Personally I think they just like to push and push with things because they can. That doesnt mean that everyone is going to ditch 1080 sets and rush out buying these though.

    Just my opinions

    regards

Soon my eyes will run at a lower res than movies :(
I tested out a few test movies on friends @ SD and HD and mostly people couldn't tell the difference...

Because we can because we should

i love how subtitles are implemented in the MP2 videoplayer, this is just perfect. 1080p playback is also very good. But video playback in MP2 is buggy when playing 4k material. Therefore: PLEASE add an option for an external video player! I'd LOVE to have VLC back as videoplayer, like in MP1! This works perfectly. You will make a...

Hi there, since I changed TV and HTPC's CPU, I'm wondering if this guide: Guide could be considered still good today, since it's been almost 13 years since then and it's still referring to a resolution of 1080p? I say this because I have a new Panasonic 4K HDR TV, and with that settings, even if I have an old Gygabyte GPU (bought...

Fixed, I think. Certainly the vintage MP2 installer that I was using no longer installs the LAV filters. I can only assume that these were never part of the install package itself, but rather downloaded during the install, and that link no longer exists. Shame that the installer doesn't indicate this. Last time when I installed the...

Greetings to all Denizens of the land of MediaPortal... It seems our Zap2XML/GraceNote access is broken again. I (as many others) have been using the latest NewZap2xml_6 and it has worked flawlessly. A few days ago it all died. I wonder if anyone is working a solution to save the masses. I am hoping the good citizen of past is...
