My only question is - how do I know if the new TsReader is being used? I have the c:\useTsReader.txt file, but no logs get created anymore in c:\. I think the new reader is active, but how can I be 100% sure?

I would also like to know that! ...if possible

I have big issues doing FF and REW on the the timehift, is this issue common and is it just for tsfilter?? anyone know?

The problem is that for everytime I skip or ff or rew MP hangs for about 1 minute before resuming.

If this is just me or if I missed some tip where it is solved I hope for some pointers :)

I have the same problem that I have reported earlier in this thread.. But it seems that no one has had the time looking in to it - or perhaps we are the only ones?

    I reported it here https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/showpost.php?p=169930&postcount=234

No. You definitely not the only ones. I have a similar problem using PDVD7.3 for A&V. (even with 15517)
But it does not appear all the time. If I try to reproduce it by turning TV on and skipping around and using the pause function every thing is fine. Still a bit slower than with the old filter, but fine.
But at prime time watching TV the things seem to change... and I'm not absolutely sure what makes the difference then. Skipping requires more then a minute sometimes. Rarely it crashes completely...
What maybe the difference is the kind how TV is used in the evening most times... I have a son of 7 month who doesn't like to go to bed. And because of this the "normal" TV usage of a evening is more like: zapping around for a while until we found something interesting, starting to watch it, pause it for 10min or more, watching it, pause it, watching it.
I not sure if that is the reason but the new filter is still skipping pretty slow very often here.
The log entries in the MediaPortal.log looks like that:
    Code:
    2007-08-14 21:20:29.203125 [Info.][MPMain]: TsReaderPlayer:seekabs:32293726877 start:20896380000 end:42435000000

Take a look at the time differences between "seekabs" and "seek done:1"

I really hope Frodo will find the time to sort this last thing out. It still makes the primetime use of the new filter a problematic. A stable TVE3 will at least find more acceptance without this bug, I guess.

    Bye

    PS: I also have no tsreader.log in c: ?!

Hey all, thanks for all your answers :) Made my day to know I am not alone .. heh

I just installed the latest SVN this morning but I did not test FF and REW before going to work, but I will do tonight. My codec of choise today is PDVD7, used Nvidia before but that just causes alot of picture freezes these days.

Also, I had some strage bhaviour last night. I used VLC player to show a buggy DVD ISO file outside of MP so I closed the frontend for a few hours. When I started MP again afterwords it had started recording a scheduled show (w00t!) but the sad thing was that for all my efforts I was not able to connect to the recording/timeshift stream. I could see the stream under the streams button, but choosing it just produced a black screen, no errors or anything. I tried turning tv off/on etc but it still would not connect it seemed.

Finally I just gave up and let it finish recording. It did not finish till late so I never got to test if the recording actually did work.

    Anyone else experienced similar results?

Finally, I know I am using the new filter since I get Nowegian audio on Disney Channel, and this did not work on the old filter. ;)

just attach graphedit to the mediaportal graph, and you will see a difference between having c:\useTsReader.txt and not having it.

I can also confirm the same problem when recording...
For what it is worth I'm also using PDVD7.3 for A/V.

I've just tried the TsReader filter, and it is a huge improvement over TsFileSource.
I was getting very frustrated with the hanging that was occuring for live and recorded TV while using TsFileSource.

    My system is a multiseat-configuration.

TvServer is a ASUS P4C800-E using 2.8 GHz CPU with 2 G ram.
This is a general purpose machine used with different logons.
C: 120 Gbyte with OS, Mediaportal and TvServer.
D: 120 Gbyte raid mirror for data.
Video card is a Winfast A310
Tv card is LeadTek DTV2000 H using the BDA drivers.
Mediaportal installed is: MediaPortal_0.2.3_RC1.zip with MediaPortal-svn--08-04-2007--00-59-Rev15426.exe
    TvServer installed is: tvengine3-08-03-2007--01-22h--Rev15412.zip
Codecs used: Cyberlink codec from PowerDVD 6.0.

    Client PC is a Dell Precision 330 P4 2GHz with 1G ram.
Video card NDIVIA GeForce 7600 GS using component output to TV.
Single drive partitioned and Mediaportal installed on D:, OS on C:.
Mediaportal installed is: MediaPortal_0.2.3_RC1.zip with MediaPortal-svn--08-04-2007--00-59-Rev15426.exe
Codecs used: Cyberlink codec from PowerDVD 6.0.

    Issues found:
1). When using mediaportal on the TvServer, sometimes switching channels results in the video being initially frozen.
The audio is fine, and the video eventually starts.

2). When using mediaportal on the client, turning on either live or recorded TV causes MP to hang. Logs attached.
The TvServer management console indicates that timeshifting is iniated correctly, it just doesn't appear to complete.

Note: There is no TsReader.log file on either machine.

My only question is - how do I know if the new TsReader is being used? I have the c:\useTsReader.txt file, but no logs get created anymore in c:\. I think the new reader is active, but how can I be 100% sure?

If you have ffdshow installed, go to Setup/Television/TV Post Processing. Add ffdshow raw video filter and check the checkbox. Be sure to have the tray icon enabled in ffdshow setup. When watching TV, right click the ffdshow tray icon and find all filters in use at the top of the context menu.

TsReader is called MediaPortal File Reader. TsFileSource is TS File Source.

FYI - the broken FF/REW behaviour appears to be fixed in latest SVN+TVE3 (15517). Installed last night and ff/rew work really well, no errors, instant response, quick movement through the timeline. Good work guys. It also appears that the latest SVN/TVE3 have the best/smoothest channel change speeds so far.

My only question is - how do I know if the new TsReader is being used? I have the c:\useTsReader.txt file, but no logs get created anymore in c:\. I think the new reader is active, but how can I be 100% sure?

I am running the 15533 svn now and it seems so far the FF/REW problems have been solved for me (running PDVD7). Of course a little more testing tonight will confirm this, but it seems much better here at least :)

    Huge :D from me :)

    Hi,

With SVN 15533, I am still having problems with FF/REW. On a Vista Home Premium client, with MPV, DScaler and Microsoft MPEG2 codecs (changing them via settings within mediaportal), if I start a recording and hit FF, the recording simply stops playing. On a XP Pro client (only tested with MPV) I have seen the same behavior, and also just seen the screen freeze (mediaportal doesn't crash). In this instance, when I then press play, it does seem to have moved through the recording slightly, so it looks like the timeline and screen are possibly not being updated.

I haven't yet tested on the server itself. Apologies for the lack of logs, but got to get to work!

Apart from this, the new filter is great. I haven't updated SVNs for about 2 months, and this one is so much more stable. Great work guys!
