Ok guys, im new here but i think i have a good workaround for this.

I dont have installed any codec packs, just few major (AC3 filter, Matroska splitter, VSfilter..) and my workaround to get .srt subtitles working for the mkv files is following.

Open media portal configuration go to Movies>Movies Post Processing

In available filters find DirectVobSub and double click it. It will be visible in the upper window. Check the checkbox by its name if its not checked.
Now when you run media portal and mkv movie for which you have subtitle it will be able to load it (its not doing it automatically though). So far everything worked fine.

One note tho. When i used DirectVobSub (autoloading version) some movie files (microsoft wmv for example) didnt wanted to start anymore, but other version worked fine.

I hope this was usefull to someone, that is how i watch mkv with subtitles with Media Portal.

Keep it up guys, Awesome HTPC app :)

This was useful to me! I turned on the DirectVobSub (autoloading version) and all is well for me (except for the subtitle being listed as Undetermined instead of the language). I only have mkvs and isos.

:D

I'm running 2.5 with the WMC skin. I have .mp4 files, along with the related .srt files in the same folder. I can watch the movies just fine. PS: But maybe the MP2 team will be back tomorrow, and development and bug fixes will continue. Time will tell.

Fixed, I think. Certainly the vintage MP2 installer that I was using no longer installs the LAV filters. I can only assume that these were never part of the install package itself, but rather downloaded during the install, and that link no longer exists. Shame that the installer doesn't indicate this. Last time when I installed the...

I don't think so, because MP has no way of knowing at which timestamp the external player stopped playback. Best way to achieve this would be to use an auto-resume feature in your external player itself. (MPC-HC can do that, I don't know about VLC)

I have recently installed MediaPortal 1.37 (x64) and MP-TVSeries v4.5.1.697 and unfortunately the TV episode runtime duration is missing in my Titan skin. This only applies to my .TS files, my .MKV files are OK. I believe the difference is likely to be because .MKV files embed the runtime in the file unlike .TS files. I have done...
