Well, I feel for you. It certainly is picky, I should know, if you look a few months back in this thread you'll find a post from me where I almost gave up.

In the end, for me, it was a combination of codec issues (which can be maddening) and a slow CPU on one client.

It may sound extreme but have you considered a ground-up reinstall of Windows, patch it, install a fresh MediaPortal, then install the SAF codec pack +PDVD or Arcsoft?

Yea, actually already have about 30 times (I have a disk image of a fresh install now lol)

SAF did not work for me at all, horrible results...
I tried several times with rather spotty performance, as well as most other video formats getting broken..

I have had better results with ffdshow (for SD) and cyberlink (for 'HD')

coreavc seems to work pretty good, but the audio sync issues are maddening.

What drives me nuts is that it can play smooth and fine at first, but always eventually starts stuttering.

If I change the channel or anything like that, it always starts a never ending stutter-fest that can't be stopped without a reload of MePo.

I can SEE IT WORKING lol.
It's clear and smooth and at full 60fps, but it never lasts longer than 30 seconds before starting to shudder and skip... sigh

    DreadFury,
Not to beat a dead horse, but you probably should use one of your higher-end machines as the server. If the server is lacking, then all your clients will exibit the same behavior....

Have you tried the pause/play trick for the stuttering? Just pause live tv for 3-4 seconds then resume. If the stuttering goes away then I would think it's not a hardware problem.

    Hi guys

I am begining to wonder if my server specs is the reason for my problems with stuttering on some channels even that i for the moment only use the HD-pvr wirth sd signal input (dont have sky hd yet since i still have problems getting it to work)
I am using a intel dual atom board for server and diferent harddisks Sata2 for windows and timeshift and record but what i understand the server dosent do any encoding/decoding and when i have stuttering on the clients the server is stil running with very low cpu utilisation 5-10% and it is a deticated server only running mp server and vista ultimate
I think i will try with another server with a dual core intel 2,5ghz to se if it has any efect
The funny thing is thát it is only on some channels

    Regards
    Dyrvig

Have you tried analog audio? From what I understand most of us use RCA cables for audio because AAC and AC3 stutter a lot. I'm stuborn and am still using AC3 because I want Dolby Digital to work. Recordings are fine, it's only live content.

I forgot to ask if you were using 5.1 too. As sjeffrey says, the current consensus is you can get it to work more or less ok with recorded content but live is going to cause you problems. I stopped using it a long while ago.

I haven't tried this with 1.1 yet. Anyone know if the tsreader bugs, particularly with 1080i content, are fixed?

    hi sjeffrey

yes i am using analog audio rca and my client is a intel dg45fc and intel dualcore 2,53hhz processor 4gb ram

and the funny thing is that all channels can do live tv without stuttering if i change channel and after go back to the channel with stuttering and i can se in the tsreader log that there is a lot of late packets when i have stuttering

    regards

You can try using ramdisk to see if the issue is the same.
Also, try DPC lantency checker to make sure it's not hardware/driver problem.
