I don't think many of us are running 1.1.0 Alpha. If you start at about page 48 or so and read from there, that's about where we all upgraded to 1.0.2. On page 50 is the answer to the codec questions. And somewhere in there, there is a post by sjeffery and another by WileE (not sure if sjeffery's is the same as WileE's with an extra patch for 5.1 optical audio, but if ya read the posts ya should see what the differences were). That should pretty much get ya started. Read all about using SD. It's a must. Once ya get everything else set up, check out 4TR.

I am using 1.1, however I have been unable to get a fully stable system, so don't base any decisions on me.

I will say that I have had the best luck (all things considered) with 1.1 on all machines, including the server.

The svn version should be what is label as 1.1.0. So don't use the svn version, just use the download page for 1.0.2

As for patching, like chesh said, go to the last 20 pages or so of this thread. There's a patch for shorter PMT (quicker channel changes) and I posted experimental patch to help with AC3 stutter (If you use digital audio then you will soon know what we mean).

I am relatively new to MP, and am trying to get the HD-PVR with my STB working. I feel as though I am pretty close. I've read through this thread, and want to thank everyone for all of the work they've put in. Its been really educational to me. First, I'm running Vista x64, MP 1.02 and using a motorola stb I'm using ServerBlaster.dll from ixian's post 3/22. I can set up a various channels (have only manually inputted 5, until I get this working), tune to the different channels, etc. The problem comes in on getting the STB to change channels. I'm using the blaster in the HD-PVR, and whenever I setup MP to use the blaster, the HD-PVR turns on (red light on front comes on), then shuts off, then the IR blaster fires, then nothing. I get an error saying no video/audio detected. If I try to do it again (in MP, TVServer config, or manually start timeshift), I get an Unknown error. I have to manually power down the HD-PVR, stop tv service and restart to get anything to try to work again. Then, I get the same no video/audio detected message. If I open TME and watch the stream while I'm manually trying to start timeshift, I can see that the channels change correctly, but I still have to cycle the HD-PVR manually if I shut down TME then re-open it (doesn't see HD-PVR o/w). If I run without ServerBlaster, I can't change channels through MP, but I can start timeshifting/view TV in MP (but I have to change channels with STB remote). Also, I can manually change channels with blastcfg without a problem in TME, but if I open MP preview window, and try to change channels, I get the same problem, and HD-PVR does not restart after channel is changed. Can anyone help me out other than going out and buying a USB-UIRT, I really want to avoid spending more money on this project right now, I may do that in the future, but the $$ issue is really holding me back.

also, FWIW, I am using mc2xml to download EPG data, and so far its working well.

    Thanks,
    Michael

First off, the HDPVR blaster has been known to be rather buggy.
Make sure you are using the latest drivers for the HDPVR which promises to resolve the blaster issues.

Secondly, try getting the blaster setup with the hauppage blaster utility, I too set it up with a Moto STB.
I was able to just try a few pre-configured moto setups and found a working one rather quickly.

Also, have you tried IR Server Suite?
It can make setting up blasters a lot easier, I think it is able to interface with the happauge blaster utility as well.

I was able to get it blasting my motorola STB using the HDPVR blaster awhile ago, but I opted to use my other (MCE) blaster as it had no issues and was a lot more customizable without the hassle.

    good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I set up the hauppauge blastcfg.exe to work with my stb. If I don't use Serverblaster, and open MP, then open blastcfg.exe on top of it, I can change channels without a problem. If I use Severerblaster, I can't even start to timeshift. I also tried to get IRSS to work, set it up to send a select command with each channel change, and set the select command to call wintv2tme.exe -c%2, and this gives me the same trouble as MP. I guess there's some glitch in my system between the HD-PVR blaster and actually running the HD-PVR. I'd like to avoid spending the money on a USB-UIRT. Maybe I'll try to get a serial blaster from somewhere. Those look cheaper. Anyone get that to work?

Personally, if you could find one, I would go for the MCE remote instead.
If you get the one that comes with the blaster, not only do you get a new blaster, but a way nicer remote than the...thing...that came with the HDPVR lol.

as for your description, look into IRSS and find the blast.exe, there is no shortcut to it, it is a command line tool installed with the suite.
I used it before to call commandline blasts, but right now I just use the IRSS tv server plugin, and it calls the blasts from the IRSS perfectly and with little effort. (just make sure you have the right card selected, and if your hdpvr is locking up, check to make sure you're using the latest drivers from the happauge site.)

I never used the serveblaster plugin (successfully), as it always gave me headaches.

    good luck!

Same thing I always say: Just get over the cost and buy a USB-UIRT. Yes, it's $10-20 more than, say, a MCE or other remote setup. I know. Just buy it. Think of it as buying satisfaction and peace of mind, not hardware, because that's what you're doing.

The reason for this is simple: It works. Perfectly. With everything. With no fuss. Also it changes channels faster than any blaster I've ever tried (and I have tried quite a few). So just give in and get one.

I don't own a USB-UIRT, but have heard nothing but good things about it (other than the price)
however, With the MCE remote blaster you get a free remote, learning blaster (with an option for a second), and receiver, and it was all setup in IRSS with the simple click on 'Enable MCE Remote'.

either way, good luck, I know how frustration it is to have to buy yet another piece of hardware for your new toy, it seems like it never ends...
