I did put it in c: as well as tried arcsoft codec.

My codecs were working just fine. Video literally froze in the middle of moving all my hardware. Audio continued. Nothing changed except for my roommates stupid parents moving my hardware all around. I just reinstalled the HD PVR and that didn't help either. Going to try changing usb ports or something. This just doesn't make any sense. They way it happened suggests it's hardware, the way it works with TME suggests it's software. I'm at a loss.

Can I suggest you get a new roomate :)

Use Graphedit or Graphstudio. Launch MP in window mode (or hit alt+enter when it's started) then start LiveTV. Go to Graphedit and do a remote connect. See what codecs are used/connected.

It doesn't connect doing a remote connect in either program.

When I start live TV, audio starts but video never does. Also MP hangs as if it's waiting just for video to start, but the log says it does. Same thing happened in window mode. It really shouldn't be a codec issue, though. As I said, before this move, codecs were 100%.

Do you believe this is not a hardware issue at all? Do you think there's something inside the hd pvr that has to do with strictly third party software? It's a longshot, but I doubt that.

edit: Just noticed something else. The second menu to control bitrate in TME is missing. Just not there. Could that have been messed up with all this graph stuff I have been doing?

Edit::::: I even reinstalled all of TME and drivers and HD PVR and MP. There's no other explanation other than a hardware problem. Either my computer, or the HD PVR. Screw it, I am just going to join tivo or something. This is a pain in my butt.

I've been having a small issue ever since I think 1.1.0 beta. For every first time I try to tune a channel it takes 30 seconds before the HD-PVR starts recording. I can stop timeshift and start again and it works right away. I get this everydays since I reboot the HD-PVRs and restart TVService everyday.
Anyone else seen this?

Hi,

Just wanted to share my experience with the HD-PVR and thank everyone here for all of their help/time they've taken in this thread. First, when working, HD-PVR works great. I initially tried using the IR blaster on the HD-PVR, but took everyone's advice and broke down and bought a USB-UIRT. It works great. I'm very glad I bought this. The other thing that everyone here seemed to urge people to do was to use schedules direct. I was recluctant at first, and had mc2xml working very well, but after 3 times in 3 months (maybe more, I lost count), I got sick of editing channels manually, and paid for schedules direct. It also works great and is well worth the money. I also got FTR up and running based on advice on this thread, and am very happy with it.

The only problem I am having (may be 2 separate prob's) is that when the system wakes from standby, TVservice must be restarted. What may be the same problem, is that occasionally, the HD-PVR needs to be cycled on/off. when this happens, TVService must then be restarted. Occasionally, this happens during programs, but usually when sitting overnights. This has caused hiccups in recording, where a scheduled show does not record as either tvservice needs to restart or the HD-PVR needs to be cycled. Anyone have any solutions?

Thanks,
Michael

    I tried both standby and hibernate for awhile and always ran into this issue. I eventually gave up myself. If you ever find the solution to this, let the rest of us know :)

    I also gave up on putting my media PC to sleep. I compromised now and put main desktop to sleep instead :)
    One thing you could check is to make sure you don't have the option to allow Windows to put your device to sleep. It might already be off already though (Look in device manager I think). I just haven't found too many things related to sleep mode for the PVR. Another solution is to get an IR AC outlet, create script to sleep and one to wake. When you sleep, send the signal to power off the AC outlet which would have your PVR plugged in and stop TVService. On wake, turn AC back on and startup TVService.

    Seconding/Thirding all this; I gave up on hibernating/standbye a long time ago.

    I have some remote hope that "Project Argus", by the 4TheRecord team, will offer an alternative. Argus is their own, dedicated-purpose TV server that works with their existing 4TR clients, including the one for MediaPortal. In other words, it completely replaces the MP TV server component, while still working with the client.

    They are already on their second Alpha and will have a beta soon, however the HDPVR may not be part of the initial release. I'm working with them on that, even considering buying/loaning one to them for testing purposes, so we'll see what happens. Remember that the existing 4TR suite is already 80% of what's needed to pull this off - Argus is just the last piece that deals the tuning/capture card software. EPG/Guide/Scheduling/Plugins/Web interface/Client, etc are already developed and working; they currently use either GBPVR or MediaPortal for the TV card portion, and that is what Argus is meant to replace. I guess we'll see how it goes because beyond compatibility fixes I'm not sure what other work is being done for the HDPVR on the Mediaportal platform.

    Hi All,

    I've been pondering getting an HD-PVR and blasting my STB as well. So I read through all 78 pages of posts. I now feel like most of you are family or something... :)

    At any rate, I short while back there was some disucssion about the sound type not being set by the code. If I recall correctly, about a year ago there were some problems with some DVB-S cards not playing correctly etc. If I am correct the cause was the sound type not being set correctly...

    If this is true, it would explain a lot. I'm an IT Manager in my day job and have a lot of coding experience, so if I get some time I may be able to take a look. In the mean time, there might be some "sample" code in the DVB-S cards for you to compare to.

    EDIT:
    Well, I found a few momement to download the latest SVN and take a look at it. Since I don't have and HD-PVR yet, I need some information from some of you if possible. If you could post a pic of graphedit so I can take a look at what is setup. Both a 2 channal and a DD capture would be great. Also, WileE mentioned he noticed the audio type was always returned null. Where exactly in the code was it that you were looking at?

    Hey Dalmer,
    In the TV Server code under Library->TVLibrary->Implementations->Analog->Graphs->HDPVR->HDPVRChannel.cs file, you will find the stubs...

    Code:
        /// <summary>
        /// returns the list of available audio streams
        /// </summary>
        public override List<IAudioStream> AvailableAudioStreams
        {
          get
          {
            return null;
          }
        }

        /// <summary>
        /// get/set the current selected audio stream
        /// </summary>
        public override IAudioStream CurrentAudioStream
        {
          get
          {
            return null;
          }
          set
          {
          }
        }

    As far as the Graph's are concerned, someone else may be able to help you with that. Everytime I start Graphedit and connect to the graph it returns nothing...

    Good Luck!
    Wile E.
