Rekenaar will on your case: no system specs or details on how you are playing back the media files :p

Seriously, if you expect help, please follow the basics. OK. now, that's out of the way. I will assume you have followed the install requirements ie. if you are using SPDif for AV receiver encoding, you have checked the AC3 & DTS boxes in the output section of ffdshow config.

To confirm you don't have a codec issue do this:

    1) Open MP config>General & deselect start in fullscreen & OK out
    2) go to start>***>SAF4.00>tools>graphstudio
    3) start MP & load a media file you are having issues with
    4) in graphstudio, go to file>connect to remote graph. Highlight the only connection in the box & click connect

This will bring up your video & audio codecs & renderers being used. Does anything look out of order.

If you're not sure, do this:

    5) click new to clear codecs. Go to file>render media file. Browse to the same media file & click open

Once codecs are loaded, can you play the file within graphstudio? If so, then the issue is usually localised inside MP. If not, then you have codec issues that need sorting.

    Start with this.

Default Direct Sound Device was the problem. MPAR worked better than Dircect Sound, but is still a problem. Changed Audio Renderer to use the TV and it's working.

Update: Problem solved! The electronic program guides (tvguide.xml) have been successfully transferred to MediaPortal. The issue stemmed from the corruption of one or both of the mc2xml.dat and/or mc2xml.exe files, for an unknown reason. Consequently, even though the tvguide.xml file appeared to be updated, its content kept being an...

Thank you for pointing out that my analysis may be less than accurate. :p Although the change to TV channel 71 may not also have been applied to the independent radio channels (different MUXes), the logs that I prepared for one of the development team does show a difference between channel 704 ("BBC Radio 4") and channel 731...
