Allready tried that, dint help. so i tried to manually download those filesin xml file.

BTW, great piece of freeware this mediaportal ;) . Stable version 0.2.3.0 worked like a charm.

And with firewall on, it usually reports, when new program tries to acsess internet, but seems that mediaportal installer even doasent try to make internet connection.

Dont know, whatwas the exat problem, but i ran commodo firewall , and MPinstaller madeconnection to net. maybe, even when turned off, comodo somehow restricts some programs.

Thank you for your time Paranoid Delusion

    Got exactly the same problem.
No firewall turned on for the client, but the media machine is behind SBS network (double NIC SBS).
Can access internet with MSIE and Firefox, but have to have proxy settings set. Firewall client is installed on box.

Id hazard a guess the installer isnt using the Proxy settings in Internet Explorer but rather is trying to access directly?

Turning comod firewall on solved my problem. it showed me that mediaportal installer was trying to acsess internet, and i let it pass.

I dont have Comod installed so not relevant I feel.

THe installer, for it not to be accessing the Internet, would seem to be ignoring MSIE setup configs. Your firewall may well have been blocking it, but Id say before that occured, the installer wasnt using your network config (eg if you had proxies set in your browser etc)

DeployTool, our installer, is written in .NET as so will use the IE client to connect to internet.
As told by the error message, verify that you can navigate with IE itself.

BTW, are you asked a password for browsing internet ?

Yes, I can access the internet good and fine
    * MSIE is configured manually with a Proxy for the SBS. No password required in the browser
    * the Media system also has the Firewall Client installed so NTLM authentication maintained through that as well
    * Firefox can access the internet, again with proxy set.
    * Control Panel internet settings are confirmed as those which are reflected in MSIE

Trust me, the installer would appear not to be using these, as all access is OK through the SBS network.

maybe setting loglevel to debug might pinpoint the difference between normal and stuck? Preferable with as much disabled as possible also try to see if anything is happening during stuck for the mediaportal process(resource monitor, disk activity, cpu usage, anything) maybe other programs competing for resouces?
